Very uncomfortable at 18 weeks

So I'm 18 weeks pregnant with my first child and I feel like I'm not showing A LOT, but I am showing quite a bit. But anyway, I feel so much bigger than I look and I'm starting to feel REALLY pregnant. This is a silly question sort of but..is this normal?? It just feels like my stomach is stretching and like it's hanging really low.

  • Yep, normal. Everyone shows differently. If you're worried, ask your provider at your next appointment.

  • FTM also and 18 weeks on Wednesday :) but I can relate lol idk if it's normal but I don't feel like I'm showing much but like today at work I felt like my sides (it's no longer a waist lol) were like squishing all day! Like I was doing side bends to reduce love handles I was pretty uncomfortable :/
  • Yep, I'm in the same boat.
  • Ughh yes exactly how I feel!! It just slowly progresses throughout the day and it's just so uncomfortable. I can't imagine how it'll feel when I'm 30+ weeks
  • STM here and also very uncomfortable by the end of the day. During the 3rd tri with my first I was off school because it was summer (I am a teacher). Now I am going to be working up until the baby comes. I was just telling DH it's only September, I don't know how I am going to make it. I don't remember being this uncomfortable with my first this early. I am dreading as I get bigger. With my DD she nestled right under my ribs and it was a constant ache! I hope this one finds a better spot.
  • I just told my husband today that I'm only 17 weeks, and my crotch hurts ALREADY after a shift at work! (this is my 4th pregnancy). I also love that my 4 and 2 y/o boys love to help with the laundry because they take all the clothes out of the dryer and hand them to me so I don't have to bend :)

  • I had the same problem (FTM 20 weeks) - it felt like I had side stitches from running and lots of RLP at the end of the day.  It sounds weird, but maternity Spanx have really helped support my belly and keep it from feeling like it's hanging low by the end of the day.  They don't really do much to suck you in, but it's nice to have the extra support.
  • I was thinking the same thing the other day. I'm 19 weeks with #2. I can't believe how much bigger I got so much faster with this one - I was barely showing at this point with DD. I was cleaning house over the weekend and after several hours my hips, legs and feet were KILLING me. Totally shocked me to be feeling that way at this point!

There is a reason women are HAPPY to get labor started, you are so uncomfortable at the end even the idea of the pain of labor doesn't seem so bad in comparison to another day waddling around.

  • yep very normal... I have had several growth spurts and my bump is getting huge. If I overdo it during the day I really pay for it at night.  Last night I felt as if my hips and sides would explode.
