Lightning Crotch??

FTM so every pain freaks me out. I have my 24 week check up tomorrow so I'll be sure to ask, but to help me sleep tonight I'm asking you ladies!
I googled it (which doc says never do but I can't help it) and it seems what I'm experiencing is common and called lightning crotch. But this much?
Since this afternoon (for 5 hours or so) I get these every once in a while stabbing pains inside my vagina. TMI - sorry. They last 1-2 seconds and don't come regularly. Sometimes an hour between them. Sometimes 5 minutes. But they hurt!!!
Anyone else? Should I be worried about how often I'm getting them today? They're stabbing and hurt!!

  • I got them the entire time with DS...this time, not so much. I know that what I'm feeling is normal for me, but definitely bring it up tomorrow just to give you some reassurance from the doc. Oh the joys of pregnancy :P

  • Yep I experienced the same thing towards the end of my first pregnancy. Luckily, I haven't had it yet with this pregnancy and I'm really hoping it stays that way. It really sucks!

  • I don't remember this from my last pregnancy. It was a very long time ago, 8 years.. I hope it stops for you..

Also, when I read this it makes me think of 'fire crotch'... A nn given to Lindsay Lohan by Paris Hilton and her friends.. lol.

  • I get this on occasion, not very often. What it is, really, is basically a -really- unpleasant muscle spasm. But since there's more blood volume and flow to your uterus and vaginal area, maybe that's the cause for it's up'd frequency?

I'm not concerned whenever I get them, since I got those lightning jolts down there once every few months or so before the pregnancy. It's unpleasant, but maybe your doc can prescribe something to help? I don't know if there's any way to treat or 'fix' it, really

  • I'm a FTM too and it's happened to me. My dr says it's just baby hitting a certain spot and kind of makes the cervix spasm. I was freaking out that I was going into labor or something but definitely not.
  • Thanks y'all!! Doc said it's very common - even the frequency of it. It's the baby hitting a nerve. Fun, fun!!!
