Just curious how long you will continue swaddling your little ones? My son is 3 weeks and we swaddle him off and on but I am wondering if I should be swaddling him everytime he takes a nap. Does swaddling continue until a certain week/month?
I haven't really swaddled this LO since we have been home. I stuck her in a swaddle pod and she has been napping out of my arms for an hour and a half. I never get to put her down. I might swaddle her until she leaves for college...
We swaddle at night only. We think it helps with keeping her in a restful state at night. For that reason, I do not swaddle her during the day so she doesn't sleep all day.
I will probably swaddle her as long as she lets me at night.
We use the Halo Swaddle and only at night. If he is really fussy during the day, then we will use it then, but most of the time, he is fine with us just holding him.

I like swaddling but my babies weren't fans. Both like to get to their hands and got upset about not being able to stretch their legs out straight. So I'd say its all about your LO, some love it, some just can't do it.
Nighttime only swaddles over here. While we are talking sleep, anyone else's LO sleep pretty much all day long?!
Yeah, mine did for the first week or so. She had her days and nights confused. We had to work on not letting her sleep as much during the day so she would sleep at night.
Our pedi recommended not letting her sleep more than an hour at a time during the day by waking her up and giving her a warm sponge bath. It took us a few days of doing this but it did help. Now at night she just wakes up to eat and then goes back down. We do have our once in a while crazy nights where she is just cranky, but for the most part, she is much better. Good luck!
We swaddle until they start rolling because we don't want them to roll swaddled and get stuck face down without their hands out. Sadly, when we stopped swaddling DD1, she stopped sleeping and never really started again.
Thanks for all the replys!! I am trying to transition LO into his crib and think I will have much more succes if he is swaddled. I will try and get back into the routine of swaddling him at night. We have the swaddleme as well and they are so much easier than using a blanket to swaddle. My lil man loves to sleep during the day and I am trying to break that habit to make nights better.
Swaddled the first 2 kiddos. My hospital actually told me that they don't recommend a swaddle as often so they learn to sleep with crazy arms. So sometimes I swaddle with the Halo (which surprisingly the hospital also used, another first) sometimes I let her sleep without. ETA we swaddled them until they were capable of breaking themselves free from the velcro.
We swaddled DD until she was 4 months old and that was because she started to roll in her sleep. With DS we only swaddle him at night…mainly because I want him to be able to sleep anywhere in anything. DD would only sleep swaddled and that turned into a nightmare when we were without it!
I've been swaddling every sleep time because he otherwise wakes himself up with the arms, and I just said to my husband that we are going to need to swaddle him forever. This thread makes me nervous for what to do when he's too big for the a+a blankets though. Maybe tomorrow we will try napping arms out. Scary thought.
there is no exact time to stop swaddling but we stopped around 4 mod when our LO could roll over. We transitioned to the sleep sack and its working perfectly! We use the zippy and its designed so that they cal move around but stay cozy. Helps with warmth a bit too!

Hailey seems to like her arms out, so we will probably take it week by week with swaddling with her.
