Babies: 3 - 6 Months

leaky diaper overnight

Our 4mo is sleeping in 8-10 hour stretches (for the most part). She weighs 13 lbs & is still in size 1 diapers, but I noticed they leak overnight. I tried size 2, but they are really big on her even when I overlap the straps. She also has a levana monitor, which goes off constantly with the size 2 because the diapers are big. We use huggies little snugglers right now. Is there a brand that is good for overnight? Or maybe a brand that runs on the smaller side?

Thank you!

Re: leaky diaper overnight

  • I found huggies to be leaky as well. Pampers work for us

  • I used buggies overnights with my first two and the leaks stopped

  • My LO was smaller, we always used Pampers Swaddlers.  Once he started sleeping longer stretches though, we switched him to the overnight diapers.  They stopped any leaking issues we had.
  • We use Pamper's Baby Dry-- they have 12 hour of protection I believe???

  • Thanks...do any of these come in small sizes? When I looked at overnights on amazon the smallest was a size 3. I will probably need size 1 until she's big enough for size 2

  • We always used overnights. Pampers and Parents Choice work great. I think you'll have to use the size two though.

  • our LO is 4.5 months and weighing 12.25 pounds.  we just transitioned to size 2 diapers bc i didn't want to purchase additional size 1s and have extra.  we use the pampers swaddlers and they work well.

  • Another vote for papers baby dry. My LO is in size 2 because the size 1's were leaking too. Although they are big for him, we don't have a leaking Problem anymore!

    Baby-Dry gets my vote too!!

My LO is also small, almost 5m and just now getting into size two diapers.. We had leakage issues as well, so we got size two pampers baby dry (for nigh-time only).. they are big.. but they def fixed the leaking problem. Plus, she is growing into them, and when she does we will probably do size 3's. Im going to keep her in the baby drys, in one size up from what she actually wearing, for overnight. Its working for us pretty well.

  • They do make the Pampers Baby Dry in a size 1 but they are harder to find.  My LO is in a size 2 and we use baby dry at night and swaddlers during the day.

  • Boo to the huggies! LOL.  I have a little boy and huggies = blowouts n' leaks.  Pampers swaddlers worked best.  No leaks no blowouts until he was ready for the next size up.

I have heard the overnights in huggies could lead to diaper rash due to the amount of moisture being trapped against babies skin...but IDK from personal experience -- only word of mouth.

Either way i'm a pampers mommy.
  • I tried huggies at first and they would leak all the time, switched to pampers and all is great now, my baby wakes up for 1 feeding in an 11 hours sleep

  • We were doing great until last week when we started peeing out diapers twice a night. We were in Costco 1-2 but moved to Luvs 2 because of some near poop explosions. They do great during the day but at night it is bad.

I have size 2 Huggies (both the one with Micky and the one with Pooh..can't remember the name right now) but they seem so huge in the leg area that I'm afraid to try them.

We ordered some cloth and since I thinking about keeping disposables over night, just putting a cloth cover over the 'sposie to see if it helps, at least protect the jambes and sheets a bit longer.

  • Huggies tends to leak, I've use other brands as well like luvs, etc. pamper is the best and never had any issue, or blow outs or leaks!!!
  • I like to use Pampers Swadlers size 1 during day time (transitioning to size 2) and Pampers Baby Dry size 2 at night.
