Separation of amniotic sac from uterus

I can't find another thread related. I am just shy of 20 weeks. At my scan on Friday they found a seperation of the amniotic sac from the uterus. Apparently it happens between 6 and 8 weeks gestation and is a leading cause of early miscarriage. I will be monitored for amniotic band syndrome (be prepared for shock if you Google this). As of now there are no bands tangled around her that they could see. The separation is anterior fundally (which I was told means at the top on the front side). The placenta is sitting almost directly on top of it so they couldnt get a measurement of the separation. I go for another elective 3d ultrasound tomorrow as they won't do another at the ob office until 30 weeks. The office said we have to wait and see what develops. Has anyone else ever been through this? Info is pretty limited that I can find as most of the cases end in loss very early. Thank you

Met with RE 4/11. 2 IUI's BFN. DE best option. Switched clinics to do "shared" program. Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months. Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive.  Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)

  • For ST or more...what is the earliest you have delivered?
  • I'm surprised the doc isn't treating this situation as high risk, and monitoring it more closely via u/s. I have a lot of u/s's through my doc office due to being high risk for low fluid, growth restriction, and premature birth (past history). I would have though that your situation would put you into that high risk category. Have they put you on bed rest or limited activity? I'm not sure if that would help or not. I don't know anything about what your experiencing with the placenta starting to come away from the uterus. My earliest was born at 32 weeks, and she did great. If they suspect a premature birth, they should give you the steroid shot for the baby's lungs. I had that with my 32 weeker, and she didn't need to be on a breathing machine. My SIL's brother's wife had her baby at 24 weeks, and she's still in the NICU, but progressing well. This was about 8 weeks ago. I hope I was able to help. You're in our thoughts and prayers.

  • I am on limited activity. It's not the placenta that is seperating, it's the amniotic sac. As she grows and there is more weight from her and her fluids I will be put on bedrest as gravity alone will begin to pull at the "bag of water". I have been moved to elevated risk but being only 20 weeks the dr won't send me to a specialist until 24 weeks when she is viable. They have said there is nothing that can be done physically or any intervention we can take at this time. I am just praying she can hold on until there is something we can do. Knowing she could come very early is terrifying and just want to find all the info I can. Thank you for your prayers
  • Nothing but positive thoughts headed your way! Hoping baby girl makes it to viability!!! Take it easy! T & P's!!!

Thank you...I will check it out now.

  • I am sure there are others out there as well but I have followed her story since her little man was born. Hopefully you will be able to get in touch with her somehow. I am sure she would share her experience with you.

Sorry. I meant amniotic sac, not placenta. I would rest as much as possible then. I know it's hard, but try to stay positive. It is scary to know that you'll probably have a preemie. I was put on hospital bed rest at 30 weeks and told that she could come in 2 days or 2 weeks. I think I cried almost nonstop the first couple of days. I was terrified that she wouldn't be ok, but family and prayer helped a lot to become ok with her coming that early. She was in the NICU 3 weeks less than they projected, too. To your LO: stay strong little girl.
