So I know there was a big uproar about getting a new iPhone 6, but I need help...

DH and I would like to upgrade our phones.  We both have iPhone 4s, and we don't usually get the newest ones.  However, we are not under contract and are eligible for an upgrade, and we have been having some problems recently.  There.  Have I justified it?  :)

Anyway, with the trade-in deal, we could get the 6 for free of the 6 plus for $100.  At 16gb.  Is that enough data?  I feel like the one I have now, I don't have much room to add stuff.  But it is only 8gb, I think.  I says 6.3 on the settings for capacity.

I think we are both leaning towards the 6plus.  Any experience with that one?

  • Is there anyway you can go see it in person somewhere? I've heard lots of people don't want the plus because of how big it is.

  • I'd go for the one with the most data. I have a 5c and I had to delete a bunch of apps to download the new iOS8.
So would you move up to 64gb?

Maybe I can stop by the store.  Is it bigger than the Samsung Note or Galaxy S5?

I'm not sure. I haven't seen those to compare, but I just remember lots of people commenting on how big it is and it doesn't really fit in pockets very well.

  • That's the storage you're talking about, not the data.

Also I have the 6 and my husband got the 6+. I text and do most things on my phone one handed and would not be able to use his 6+.

I believe it is bigger than the other phones you listed. Online you can print out the size of the 6 and 6+. There's like a size sheet to help you decide. The 6 is about as big as I could go.

This reminds me, I still need to get pictures off so I can download iOS8. Sigh, such a big update :(

4s were all 16gb. I swear my 4s is failing on cue. I have to remain plugged in to an outside battery source to keep it on.
Sorry that should have been they are both 4 but plural, not 4s.  Oops.  Does that make a difference?
I am having battery issues too.  Mine dies quickly.

Yup my battery is doing the same thing on 4s we aren't up for upgrade so I'm dragging around an external battery! 4's were also 16
Hmm.  I guess I need to get at least 64 then.  Thanks!

  • I'm so confused.  Do I just need more cloud storage?  It won't let me download software updates, app updates, etc.  I have 5mb of cloud storage.  Maybe I am too dumb for an iPhone.  : (

Go with the most data. Having twice as much space is totally worth the investment.

You can buy more iCloud storage.

Does this mean I just need more cloud storage and not a 64 mb phone?

I would get at least 64g. Also, the regular 6 is pretty damn big.
  • I think the 6 plus is too big. 64 would be unnecessary for me - can you still get 32?
No, they are not offering it.
I just stopped by the store, and the guy told me that mine is only 8gb currently.  He said the 6 plus is about the size of a note, but they won't have any in store until Nov or Dec to see in person.

  • I had a 16gb iPhone 5 and I had to move pictures to my computer often to open up space on my phone. I got a 64gb since they are not offering the 32 for the 6. I have the 6 and H got the 6+. Mine is almost too big to text/type one handed. There is no way I could use a 6+. SIL had the galaxy and the 6+ is quite a but bigger than hers. H likes the bigger screen though.

I got the 6 64. I need the space for sure the 6+ is huge.
  • Man I am so bummed I ordered a +.

take it to the store when you get it unopened and you can get a 6.
  • You can exchange them unopened. I for sure need more than 16g, I was having to delete apps and ran out of space for pictures on my 4 which was 16.
  • I am not a iPhone gal....  but here is a comparison.

The galaxy 5 is still a bit bigger.
  • I haven't read any comments, but because your aren't under contract... look into ring plus. It's not a joke. If you sign a contract you are paying too much. Your new phone isn't "free". Buy your new phone off ebay and join ring plus. I'm sad for all of you wasting your $.

    @superToots

lol - no need to feel sad. The phones on ebay are not the latest and greatest and the ones that are are 8 times the price through your provider.

You have to pay for service anyway and there is not a difference in monthly fee regardless of contract. Even if you are spending $100 - 200 on a phone, you have it for 2 years. that is nothing in the long run. I have currently has my phone for almost 3 years, I have been out of contract for 10 months and its still the same price.

Not to mention, I use my phone as a camera so I save money by not buying a separate camera and I get a bonus MP upgrade everytime too since technology advances. win win

I get to some people a contract can be a put off - but truth be told, I would never leave my provider anyway. they are the BEST service in the area. So while my cell is working fine out on the baseball field my friends with other providers are walking all over looking for some bars.  lol

This times a million my phone on eBay is selling for three times what I paid for it.
