Starting DC - mild venting

Today is the first day that my baby goes to DC on. She is 9 weeks old, I went back to work full time when she was 6 weeks and for the last 3 weeks she was going to my mom's house, I'd drop her off in the morning and my DH would pick her up in the afternoon.

She's starting to recognize people and would cry if she's held by someone she doesn't know and then calms down if my mom, myself, my family, or my husband is holding her. I dropped her off today and was informing the teacher assistant who received her from me that she might cry because she isn't used to other people and the teacher assistant plaid with my baby that instant and my baby started smiling so wide...while I'm happy she's not scared which would make DC a better experience for both of us I'm a little sad that she was happy instantly :(

I dropped by at around lunch time to check on her and she was sleeping soundly (again I was happy about that but upset I couldn't spend time with her), they told me she only cried when she wanted to eat (I drop off BM for them to bottle feed her) but beside that was awake, alert as they play in the music babies room, and was very calm.

Re: Starting DC - mild venting

  • I should be thankful that at least at DC she is calm and serene because she isn't in the car at all, she's been screaming her head off when we buckle her down in her car seat and keep shrieking until we reach our destination :( it's heart wrenching

  • I know its hard, but its a great sign that she's doing so well.  Plus, she's still so young that she will be able to bond with her teachers quickly and it is a great feeling to know that your baby is with someone they feel comfortable with while you are away!

  • Try to look on the bright side - at least you can be comfortable that she is in good hands and that she seems happy at day care.
