New to the area...

We're new to the Pittsburgh area and I have recently become a stay at home mom to a wonderful 8 month old baby girl. I am looking for any information regarding things to do or play groups in the immediate area. We are living in South Fayette Township in Allegheny County. I am willing to travel a little bit but don't want to have to go to far. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi - I'm part of the Ladies & Littles of Robinson playgroup on meetup.  We have some members from south fayette, but our group covers moms from all over (we have some from cranberry, WV, and Ohio!)  Its a really great group of ladies with a variety of things to do (playdates, parties, Mom's Night Out).

    Thanks for the info...I'll definitely check it out. Just out of curiosity do you know if there are any members with younger children? I am definitely looking to be able to socialize with other parents but also want my daughter to interact with others her age (even at this young age)!

    There's a nice variety of ages, we have newborns to preschoolers.  We definitely have a few kids around your daughters age and some a little older and some a little younger (like my son just turned 1).

    that's a pretty huge group with a ton of activities! maybe i'll look in to it. i tried a MOPs group, but it wasn't really my kind of thing. we just moved from peters twp to south fayette. :)

    I did request to join Ladies and Littles of Robinson and will join in one of their events next week and see how it goes. I do currently take my daughter to the. South Fayette Library once a week for a program they have for younger children, but I'm not always the best at striking up a conversation with others so I find it hard to meet people! Hopefully joining a group like this will help!

    @lolson33 We have plenty of chatterboxes (including myself) that would try and engage, the head organizer is really great at introducing people.  The Mall Walks are an awesome way to really get to know the moms.  Hopefully I'll meet you at one soon.  

    @carcrashheart we'd love to have you too - we're not as structured as a MOPs group, so you can be as involved as much as you like.  I've met some really awesome moms, and I love that on almost any day of the week there is something to do.

    @fiscally3 sounds great! I plan to attend our first event this Tuesday. I think it'll be good for myself and my daughter (especially as she gets older)!
