Kate has been asking to go on an airplane lately. We still haven't taken her, but we were randomly talking while on a walk the other day and she said she wanted to touch the clouds. I told her the only way to do that was by going up in an airplane. Now she asks to all the time. Coincidentally, my boss just asked me yesterday if I would like to bring Kate on his private plane (he has his pilot's license) and fly to lunch an hours-ish flight away and then fly back. First, I don't love flying commercially, but would be very nervous on a small, private plane with a pilot who just does this as a hobby, and second, I get horrible motion sickness. But I don't want to let my fears get in the way of Kate having cool opportunities. I am very close to my boss, I have worked for him for many years, he came to see us in the hospital the day after Kate was born so I'm not too concerned about her freaking out on the plane if she does. Would you go?
Re: Would you do this with your child?
could you make a weekend trip of going somewhere on a commercial "commuter" flight? something that would be 30 minutes to an hour and would be relatively inexpensive?
If you do decide to do it, let us know how it goes!
If it's the 2nd kind I probably wouldn't. Aren't those loud? Maybe wait until she's a little older.
My LO loves the planes too. But we live in a great area for visiting planes. We live close to Dulles. And her class at Gymboree is really close, we can see the landing gear as the jets are flying right over us.
