scar on baby's face?!

Anyone know if an infant's skin would scar from a scratch baby gave herself with her razor sharp nails? DD scratched her cheek under her eye 2 weeks ago and the mark is still there. Most of her other scratches have disappeared within a matter of days, with the help of a drop of breast milk. This one is still there though -- the scabby looking part from the blood (yeah it bled) is gone but there is still a pinkish mark.

I am seriously going to earn a momfail badge and cry if it ends up that my DD has a permanent scar on her face from infancy!! Damn sharp baby nails!!!! I file and/or cut these things once a day and it's useless BC they grow so fast and she still scratches herself!

@kc83 -- good to know there is hope that this thing will still go away! Sorry your little dude scratched himself bad too! The nails are super sharp after cutting, I agree - so I try to buff or file them after doing that. But she's so darn squirmy and MUST have the hand I'm trying to work on in her mouth at that exact same time. Every time. I swear I could spend 10 hours on these nails and it wouldn't help -- I spend more time grooming her than myself! ;)

  • I know this isn't what you want to hear, but my 12 year old has a scar on his right cheek from scratching himself as a baby. :( the good news is that it is really cute and endearing on him now.
  • My Son had a horrible cut from the forceps and it is completely gone. If that cleared up I'm sure the scratch definitely won't scar. It takes a little time.
