Light Bleeding

I am 4 weeks and 3 days and this is my first time pregnant, last night I had some light bleeding it was dark and thin (sorry if it is TMI) and I only noticed it when I wiped it only lasted for about an hour, now I have a tiny bit of brown spotting.  I am very nervous that I had a miscarriage but I am not sure what to do,  intially when I called my obgyn they would not see me until 7-8 weeks so my appointment is Oct 8.  I am not sure if I should call my doctor tomorrow morning to see if they will do blood work to check my levels.

Re: Light Bleeding

  • You should call your doctor and have blood work. You don't want to be stressed out for the next month. The doctor will probably tell you that it's normal, but I would still have blood work done so you have peace of mind.

  • I had the exact thing last week at 4w2d. Literally, sounds exactly the same. I was at work and was literally in tears. I called the nurse and she said totally normal. She ordered me to have betas done (they don't do them routinely) and that's it. I will find the results out tomorrow. I would still call your doctor just to be sure -- they may order lab work for you, also. It is good to just stay connected with your doctor regardless. Keep them updated.
  • Brown spotting is considered normal. Red is what you need to be concerned about. And even though if enough that you need a pad. If you are concerned, call your OB in the morning. GL.

Yup. DS is Tommy Pickles! Nothing like living with an escape artist.

  • Definitely do see a doctor. Bleeding during pregnancy is a tricky thing and it could be many things causing it. TBH, it sounds pretty normal to what several ladies describe. Good luck!

  • I've had brown spotting for several days now.  My OB had me come in and do an hcg blood draw and my levels look fine and were rising normally when I went back for a repeat.  She said that brown means it is old blood and not to be too concerned.  She said to call if it turns red.

  • I wanted to give an update (I changed my screen name if it appears diff) I received my levels hcg 534 and progesterone is 13.7. The nurse said they would like to see progesterone at 20... Going to get a second draw tomorrow.
