Decreased Movement

Im 29 weeks and I think I may have overdone it yesterday getting ready for our garage sale & lifting and moving things. I'm pretty sore today. Just trying to take it easy though. My baby is usually pretty active throughout the day, but her movement today seems to have drastically decreased compared to normal, even though I still feel/see her moving every once in a while. Should I be worried that I've done something to hurt her?

  • Last week I had crazy-bad swelling and decreased movement and after a couple hours I headed straight to my OB - I would do the same if I were you. They can hook you up to a fetal monitor for a few minutes and make sure all is well.

  • Never feel embarrassed to call your OB. They would rather you call with with a "silly" question than have something be wrong. BTW, this is not a silly question. While you are waiting for them to get back yo you, drink some ice cold orange juice. You may find that LO will start moving from the cold liquid and sugar. Hope all is well!

  • I got my medical degree from some guy selling them from a taco cart. I paid at least $20 for it, so I'm qualified to tell you........

Call your effing OB. It would be faster than typing this.

  • The amount of rudeness and hateful comments on here is completely ridiculous. I'm a stay at home mom with a 14 month old with another on the way. To say that people should need to "pass a test" before having children is totally uncalled for. This was my first post to here EVER and will most definitely be my last. The cursing and hateful responses I received were definitely not what I expected. My baby is fine, she's moving around a lot more now, and obviously I wasn't too concerned or I would have gone to the hospital. I just didn't know if any of you had any experiences with over-doing it and noticing a change in your baby's movements. Whether first time moms or 5th time moms, we are all here for eachother, not to put others down, but to offer advice and share experiences since we are all going through the same things, relatively at the same time. We all have our grumpy days, but to take it out on someone you don't even know and from reading their post you know theyre having a rough day, is down right heartless.

  • @CarrieBeth88 - I would rather tell you that you should talk to your OB and take the "better safe than sorry approach" versus the risk of telling you "it's ok" and being wrong.

If you are concerned enough to post here should should be having that conversation with your medical care team.  The advice and experiences of other internet strangers should not dictate when you seek care nor the the level of care you provide to yourself and LO.

  • Eh, some days baby moves more. Some days less. If I'm really concerned I call the OB. I wouldn't have been concerned in your circumstances because you could still feel baby moving but doesn't really matter what I think.

  • Really OP? What were you thinking we would say? It would be irresponsible and dangerous of us to give you medical advice. It is pretty standard for OBs and midwives to be concerned about decreased movement. We have all been told to call in if we have concerns. Why would you disregard that in favor of posting on an online forum? I think most people would question your judgement.

I was gonna say, is there a common sense shot people can take??!

Seriously. And I know there are actual doctors on here (and probably experienced OBs and midwives too) and none of them would give medical advice for free to strangers over the internet! It's unethical and potentially dangerous. We won't answer you, OP, because you should never ever trust someone who is willing to play doctor online. Smh
