Swing recommendations

Hi D14 ladies! I am hoping you can recommend a baby swing. I've been looking online & have read reviews but as soon as I see one that I think I like, I inadvertently see something about it I really don't like. Rather than continue to drive myself crazy, I figured I would get some recommendations from ladies I know (in the online world) & trust. Thanks in advance!!!

  • Not gonna lie, I'm sad about not being able to see the dog :( I don't really have any advice, so I'm interested in what others recommend. I wanted to get the Mamaroo, but now I'm not sure if I should go with something else after reading reviews on other swings.

  • RaeChay, I didn't really see much on her site for swings. She just said that she didn't get one cause they are bulky & she didn't have the room.

  • If you feel like you HAVE to have one, get the smallest one you can find and make sure it plugs in. Swings are hit or miss with most babies. They either love them or hate them. My kids hated them but my girl friends swear by the Mamaroo.

I went with the Fisher Price Snuggabunny this time for a few reasons. 1) I saw it was what most people were happiest and posted most about loving in my old bmb 2) it plugs into the wall 3) it can swing front to back or side to side.

ETA: I found mine in brand new condition on CL for $60. I had a graco standard swing last time with DD. She liked it after 2 months but the motor died month 4. It is something you use for only a few months so I suggest looking consignment if possible. Also because some babies love them, some hate them.

Both my girls used a Fisher Price papasan style swing. They loved it and lived in it for a while. This was 8 years ago that we got ours, and they didn't offer a plug-in option then. And yes, we went through quite a few D batteries, but it wasn't horrible, IIRC.

If I can find a similar swing used on Craiglist, then I'll probably go that route. Mainly because that's what I used before and what I'm comfortable with.

  • I got the Fisher Price Snugamonkey Swing from Target because it came with a free matching Rock n Play.  No clue if my baby will like it, but I hope so!  I do the same thing with reading too many reviews and overthinking my purchases...

    I registered for this:

    https://m.buybuybaby.com/m/product/graco-reg-duetsoothe-trade-swing-rocker-in-cascade/1041022115

It's a swing ( that goes side to side or front to back), and the seat is a detachable rocker. The rocket vibrates with a D battery, but the swing itself plugs in. I don't have it yet, so I can't give you a real opinion, but I though it included everything you would need!

  • I'm putting in another vote for the FP Snuggabunny! DD1 loved it, and I'm hoping DD2 will, too. It plugs in, which was the main thing I was looking for, plus it can swing side to side or back and forth in case you have a picky baby that only wants to be rocked in a specific way.

  • A friend of mine passed down her mamroo. Wen will see if LO likes it or not. Said friends son did but has now grown out of it.

  • My SIL has a 6 week old and is loving the Rockaroo for him.  It has quite a small footprint which is good if you have a small place.  I think I will skip buying one and hope that her Rockaroo gets passed down to me when my nephew gets too big for it.

  • Someone told me that the 2-in-1 swing/bouncers are the best because some babies don't like the swing AND the bouncer so it's the best of both worlds. And if your baby happens to like both it's a Win-Win! Good luck :)
  • I scored a Mamaroo from Craigslist for a fraction of the price. Hoping LO likes it.

We went with the Graco glider for a few reasons. there are a few different versions, we went with the LX. It plugs in, it is relatively small, but it is high enough off of the ground to keep the dogs away, and it is sturdy enough to not be knocked over by our 80 pound dogs.
  • Dd loved hers I forget what it was but it was a lifesaver! My BIL is getting us a Mamaroo this time. Hoping baby M likes it!

We returned one of these and now I'm wondering if it was a good idea. The thing was just huge for our tiny space and really loud. Maybe the motor was busted on ours.

  • I registered for the snugabunny swing as well.  My sister has the papasan one and he loves it.

  • My daughter loved the snugalamb swing because she'd yell at the 'other baby' in the mirror above her. I loved that I didn't have to look down at the floor when I was sitting to see her in it or bend down that far. So I'm looking for another one of those like ridiculously cheap. Rhea Lanas is comimg to my area next month so I'm hoping to score.
