How to know if follicles will still grow??

I took femera cd 3-7 and have not gotten a positive opk. I went in for an ultrasound on cd 16 and had only intermediate sized follicles. I returned on cd 20 and had a 13mm on the right and 11mm on the left. My doctor ordered me to inject with ovidrel on cd 23. How do I know that the follicles will continue to grow? Has anyone had their follicles stop growing?

I've been TTC for over 2 years now so I hate to leave anything to chance.

I would definitely ask for one more ultrasound to confirm that a 13mm follie did grow to mature size within 3 days! I agree that sounds like leaving too much to chance. I had similar sizes on Femara the first month (one on the right and one on the left) and in the end, the slightly bigger one disappeared and the slightly smaller one is the one that grew to mature size, and it took longer.

I would also ask the doctor if there's a reason they're deciding on CD23. Does the doctor feel that the egg inside would be mature even with a smaller follie because it's had enough days to develop, for example? I would want clearer answers before spending the money on the trigger shot and IUI if that's what you're doing. Good luck with whatever you choose!
