Zits

I have acne so bad. It doesn't matter how much I wash my face. I went through this with my first two pregnancy. I wash my face two to three times a day. I have clean hair. I don't touch my face. I always have clean bedding. Is anyone else have this same problem?

Re: Zits

  • Maybe you are washing too much? I use a gel moisturizer in the morning the brand is Olay fresh effects dew over and I use acne free which is imitation proactive cause I'm out of the real stuff right now and my acne has cleared. I looked like a preteen boy with my dd so I feel your pain. I really love the Clinique acne system as well and would use that if I could afford it. My doc says they are all ok to use but ask yours if you was worried and good luck

  • If you can afford it, treat yourself to a facial. A good esthetician can take a look and tell you exactly what's going on and how to manage it.
  • If you have an ULTA nearby they have a $20 mini facial. They have worked wonders for me.
  • I have acne pretty bad too just when I think it's going away I get more. I didn't have an acne problem in my teens do this is awful for me.

  • @Readingdiva123‌ yes that's exactly how it was for me. I had clear skin my whole life until I was pregnant with my daughter and it hasn't ever been the same. I shared what's been working for me in the pp if you want to check it out because this is the best it's been in years. It's so smooth I even let H touch it

  • I had it pretty badly in the first trimester. I find that exfoliating in the shower & wiping down with witch hazel in the am & before bed has helped. It's still there kinda, but much less noticeable.
  • My face has been blemish central during this pregnancy.  None of the products I've used has helped.  Gotta love hormones.  NOT.

  • Yup they are everywhere and do not go away
  • I have this "rash" on my face. like a cluster of small zits that wont go away. im assuming it is pregnancy related. Its ugly but its not really bothering me. I am seeing dermatology in 2 weeks so hopefully they can help

  • I have acne too. It's so frustrating. I never had acne until this pregnancy. I've used many different face washes, nothing seems to help (including the clinique acne treatment). I'm hoping I can find something in the US that will help.
  • I have had acne since my teens and nothing seemed to help (30 now). For the last year and a half I have broken out real bad and no dermatologist could prescribe anything that helped. I switched to the Burt's Bees Acne Solution and the Neutrogena Deep Clean Cleanser and the combination seems to help. I use the BBs twice, once to get the makeup off, second time with a sonic brush, then put on a small amount of the NDCC to sit for a couple minutes then wash off. The acne on my forehead is almost completely gone, but I still have it around my mouth and jawline. I talked to my doctor to get an antibiotic gel so I'll be adding that to my routine tomorrow. Wish me luck!
  • Glad to see I'm not the only one! I never had ance until we moved to Hawaii, then it got worse when I got pregnant. I have used countless expensive products, haven't found a solution yet. I even bought a clarosonic brush. Mine is worse around my jawline. My next step is making an appointment with a dermatologist. Had anyone been prescribed something (while pregnant) that worked? I'm really hoping I find something soon.
  • As someone who has struggled with severe acne since I was eleven, I've become somewhat of an expert on the topic. You should only wash your face twice a day. Avoid harsh chemicals like Benzoyl Peroxide and Sulfuric/Salicic acid. These will not get rid of the problem (plus they are potentially harmful to your baby). Instead, take a vitamin supplement that doesn't clash with your prenatal vitamins. I recommend VitaClear. Drink plenty of water (I can't stress that enough) and always have water on hand. Also, mind what you eat (you're probably already doing this). If you drink whole milk very often or eat greasy foods it will affect your complexion. Avoid salty food, salt will make the affected area sensitive, irritable, dry and red. Make sure you get your eight hours. Ample sleep can work wonders on your pregnancy glow. Try also using a different makeup. Maybe a medicated one, just for spot treatments. A warm towel on your face to open up pores 10 minutes before you cleanse will help as well. Hope this helped. Sorry for the long reply. I have dealt with this a while.

Yep, my face is a pimple zoo I swear it's worse than when I hit puberty. Your not alone sister!
  • I did w my first mostly on my back , but luckily not this time around. It didn't last the whole pregnancy if that makes you feel better .

Clarifying Lotions (the "toner") 3 and 4 have salicylic acid in them - if your doc was referring to 2 that's fine - that's witch hazel based.

I should clarify - while not pregnant I most definitely love my salicylic acid.  <3 exfoliation.

Yeah it's the number 2 but I do use proactive and that's got salicylic acid in it but my doc said it's ok to use it I hope I'm not doing anything that could harm my baby

  • Yes my acne is out of control. I usually use clinque and love it but switch to Belli (can be found at ulta) safe with pregnancy. It has made it slightly better but stil have huge cystic acne on my chin that comes and goes. My OB said I just have to deal with it and no benzoyl peroxide or salicytic acid. Which rules out most acne products!
  • I've usually had acne on my chin but with this pregnancy it is out of control all around my mouth. It is so annoying, I have recently started with a baking soda/water paste I found online. I leave it on my face for like 5 minutes and then wash it off, it has helped with the redness and swelling.

  • I also have suffered by acne my whole life, and see a dermotolgist for it. When we start TTC I switched from my oral and topical medications to just Finacea topical cream (azelaic acid) which is safe during pregnancy. I do not use it all the time because I try to limit medications right now, but when I see some forming I use to twice daily and in a few days it clears up. My OBGYN said I could use benzoyl Peroxide to spot treat my really deep pimples. Which I only do a few times a month on those big ones that never really come to a head.

  • Yes to all of this. I haven't had acne this bad since my cystic acne was cured with Accurate years ago! All around my mouth, chin/hormone zone. I've thrown out all the heavy Rx stuff I was using for occasional zits, but I'm not finding tea tree oil to be helpful anymore. The lingering, dark spots are what's driving me the most crazy! I'm going to try Belli and some of the other suggestions. Thanks!
  • I went to Trader Joes the other day and bought a $5 tea tree facial wash that doesn't have the harsh chemicals we are suppose to avoid. So far it has been really helping to clear up my skin... Just FYI for you ladies. I bought some other products that were natural but still contained Salicylic Acid
