Intro? Limbo? Possible CP? (UPDATE)

Hello PGAL ladies. I wish I was writing a very definite intro here, but unfortunately my testing from the last few days has been indeterminate. And, as I'm sure you can appreciate, this isn't an appropriate issue for my wonderful community over at TTCAL. So is it ok if I pull up a tentative seat to ask some questions and vent about this mindf*ck I find myself in this weekend??

My history is in my siggy, but if you're mobile: I'm 31, MH is 30. When I discontinued BC in August 2013, AF didn't show up until January 2014. I charted until March, and then we started TTC. My LP varies slightly, but is usually around 10 days. I got my first BFP on May 17 (EDD 1-26-15) at 11DPO. It was not darker than the control line, but it was very obvious. That line proceeded to get darker over the course of 4 days until it was darker than control at 15DPO. A missed MC was found on June 18, and my D&C was June 26. AF returned July 26 and this is our 2nd cycle TTCAL.

Now, for the mindf*ck: All tests described from here on were with FRERs. I started testing early and had negatives at 8DPO and 10DPO. Yesterday, at 11DPO I had the faintest of very, very, very faint lines that I had to tip back and forth in the light to see. But MH could see it too. I even texted a pic to a fellow bumpie who asked if she could be a third set of eyes (love you @rslh10!), and she said she could see it too. This morning at 12DPO the line is still crazy faint, but it is ever so slightly darker than yesterday (i.e., you can see it by looking and not having to tip it around as much). But I feel weird calling this a positive, based on the very clear testing from my previous PG. These "positives" are definitely not the same as that BFP (yet?).

So, I don't know what I need today. I am very, very scared this is a CP. My temps are still up (yay?), but the faintness of these lines is disconcerting. I guess I need hugs? Reassurance? Success stories of people with short-ish LPs like mine who didn't test positive right away would be great, but I'll take the CP stories too. I'd like to be prepared either way. Thank you all for your well wishes and for being so welcoming. Quick XP from TTCAL: My temps took a massive nosedive this morning and AF showed up this afternoon. So I call my doctor to tell them what's up. The receptionist says the nurse will call me back to "discuss my bleeding." Here is how that conversation went:

Nurse: Your hcg came back at less than 2.
MrsPhD: Yeah, my temps dropped and I started bleeding. I figured it would be negative.
Nurse: Right, so you aren't pregnant.
MrsPhD: So, what are we dealing with here? Chemical pregnancy?
Nurse: No, you aren't pregnant.
MrsPhD: Right, but I got 3 positive pregnancy tests.
Nurse: Well, this blood tests tells me you never were pregnant.
MrsPhD: So you're telling me that the 3 tests I took over the weekend were all false positives??? And there is no way the test could have picked up a low level that was over 5??????
Nurse: This level isn't over 5.
MrsPhD: And there's no way it was over 5 3 days ago?
Nurse: Correct. No way.
MrsPhD: Ok, well. I'm not so sure about that. I had a miscarriage a couple of months ago. And I don't get pink lines on FRERs every month I test. Soooooo................
Nurse: [condescending tone] Ok, well you're not pregnant. This is just your period.

Sigh. So after that cluster fuck....back to TTCAL I go. I hope to be back some day in the not-so-distant future. Thank you again for being so awesome over the weekend when I was in limbo!

11 and 12 dpo is REALLY early! How long is your LP generally? It could just be that you caught the positive when your hcg was super low. But it has to start somewhere so FX for darkening lines. For me, in this pregnancy, my lines were still really light at 15 and 16 dpo but here I am in third tri. Are you doing betas? That may give you a better idea of where you're at. But, for now, a line is a line and today you are pregnant. Congratulations!!

My LP varies slightly from month to month, but is usually around 10 days. And I don't think my OB does betas after 1 MC. If my tests are still faint on Monday, I may call to see if I can have them done.

I didn't get my positive until 15dpo. I think you are just going to have to give it time, which is so, so hard. Fx for darker lines!

I had two CP's this year and they both started with tests being light. But the first tests I took were dark enough to be seen. I kept testing for a few days and they got lighter and a digital test said "not Pregnant". I started my period a few days later with both.

Have you missed your period yet? Maybe it's just really early. I hope all the best for you. FX that the tests get darker.

Mine were faint in the begining as well. Even when I got a pos on a digi. Keep testing and call your doc for betas!

Congratulations! I wouldn't worry too much about light lines at this point, even though your period is technically already late, it's still super early! Implantation wouldn't have happened that long ago, give it some time to build up. It's a great sign that today's test is darker.

@MrsPhD83‌ --first off limbo sucks, but I'm going with congrats!!

I had a couple serious squinters early for this preg at 8/9 dpo with wondfos (and a FRER that id say was most likely negative at 10dpo, but maybe just maybe there was the faintest of faint lines looking back) then all of the sudden my lines got super dark and I turned a digital at 12 dpo and was like wahoooo I'm not crazy and my eyes aren't seeing things just because I want them too!

Test again tomorrow and see what the line does, but remember, a lines a line, wahoooooooo!!!!

I just wanted to offer (((hugs))) lady while you're in limbo. I hope you're here for the long haul FX!!
I second calling your Dr on Monday and asking for betas. If you have to push for them, be your own advocate. I requested betas this pregnancy. Your Dr should be there to work with you and listen to your concerns.

Lots and lots of hugs for you, dear! My advice would be to hide the pee sticks and call your doctor for betas starting Monday. After 3 early losses this year, pee sticks didn't tell me anything. Even with my CP I had a very dark FRER and started my period 4 days later. Birch is right, betas have to start somewhere. Fingers are crossed for you!

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations! A line is a line. It's faint because it's early. Maybe give it a day or 2 before testing again- figure if it doubles in 48 hours, maybe you'll see a darker line. But regardless, you're pregnant. If you would like to have betas done, call and insist. Whether they do it routinely or not, you should be able to ask for what you want/need.

I tested at 12 dpo and got a BFN on a FRER. I didn't want to waste money, so I waited until 15dpo to see my RE and get a blood draw, which came back positive. My beta was 50, so most likely was too low to register a HPT 3 days prior. I know waiting can be tough, but I would request betas instead of peeing on sticks. Those numbers are much more telling than how dark/light your second line is.

A line is a line is a line. No matter how light or dark, a line is a line. Congrats, you are pregnant! A faint BFP does not mean you will definitely have a CP. Plenty of women have gotten faint BFPs and gone on to have healthy babies (like me so far

)

I have a short LP, too, usually 7-8 days. The only time I've made it past 10dpo is when I've been KU. With this LO I got BFN's on 10 and 11dpo, and a supper faint line on a FRER at 12dpo. It almost looked like an evap line and I had a hard time believing it until the line was a tiny bit darker the next day. But here we are, still going strong at 24w.

Congrats and welcome! For my first 3 pregnancies, I had obvious BFPs at 10 and 11DPO, so when I had nothing at 11DPO this cycle, I was bummed. At 12DPO I had the faintest of faint lines and they really didn't get darker the next day. Finally at 14DPO, I had a strong positive line. Betas all came back great. Point here is, 11DPO is still very early! Give it a few days and hopefully betas will be more reassuring!

You guys are all so wonderful! Thank you for the kind words and for sharing your stories, and especially thank you for the advice. I already have a request in to my OB for betas and will also call again the morning. My test this morning offered no reassurance, and was still incredibly faint. I was taking the limbo pretty hard today, but I'm feeling a little better tonight. So I will take all of your congratulatory wishes and put them in my pocket for now. Congrats! I wouldn't rely too much on the darkness of the lines. I had squinters up until 13 dpo and my LP was usually 11-12 days. Try to take it one day at a time.

Big ((HUGS)) lady!! I'm so sorry that AF showed her ugly face and that the nurse was being so difficult!! Could you call back tomorrow to talk to the doctor or a different nurse? Seems like a CP is something important to note in your charts... I have no medical degree, but it certainly seems like that's what you've experienced. All the squishy ((HUGS))!!!
