Genetic Testing

Had a appointment with the dev pedi today to talk about results from her evaluations and her reading the CPSE reports.

Nothing too different from what I got form CPSE. Though she added ADHD to the dx.

She asked us to get genetic testing done. Is that standard procedure? Usually recommended?
DH's brother is diagnosed with mental retardation and may have some stimming and echolalia but never diagnosed with ASD. We have no other family occurrence in the family.

    I think it is standard. For us they wanted to rule out Fragile X.

    Thanks everyone. I am not averse to it - we have been trying to conceive a 2nd so it would be good to know if there is a genetic reason.

    While your daughter is getting tested, so should you and your husband. My son was born with a genetic disorder so we were concerned about having more children.  We both were checked and our chromosomes where fine.  They checked us right in the same children's hospital as my son, results took about a month.
