Pregnant and football

So I was thankful to realize "yes! I won't be pregnant in the middle of summer"...however...they say not to stress when pregnant, especially in the first trimester. Is anyone else having a little trouble not yelling/screaming while watching football?!?! I do miss my beers on NFL Sunday! Hope all you lovely ladies are doing well!

Re: Pregnant and football

  • Also I'm really glad this wasn't a "Is it safe to watch football while pregnant?!?" moment.

Or "is it safe to play football while pregnant?" Haha! Maybe because it's my team, I'm just screaming and clapping and then suddenly, a little pain in my abdomen that reminded me to cool it just a little! And mmm...chili!!! Now I want some.

  • I had a couple of moments during today's game (texans vs. giants) where I stood up too quickly and got lightheaded. I am going to have to pull the reins on my anxiety and football this year :/
  • Oh my gosh! Chili, 7 layer dip, these are definitely benefits!!! @GrailSeeker14‌ I'm going to try to remember the deep breathing and just keep it to clapping!

That's me! Except it was Eagles vs Redskins! At least it gives us a reason to be lazy on Sundays!

I just watched the redskins/eagles game and I was swearing like a sailor the ENTIRE time!

Not sure I am going to be able to handle this season! :)

What a game that was!   I am a Redskins fan.... there was no rest on either side of the fan aisle though! :)

  • I think yelling and cheering is better than internalizing it =)  And, fwiw, I went to a big rivalry game when 39 weeks - lots of jumping up and down and cheering! So fun!
  • E-A-G-L-E-S!! I was definitely screaming a bit today. The game usually doesn't stress me out as much as my pick-em league. Definitely missing beer.
  • 49ers fan here. I will miss my beer but hey there is always hot wings and 7layer bean dip. ;) I can't help it I am a total yell at the T.V. kinda gal.

Anyone watching the Seattle game right now? Holy shit this is entertaining ball!

    So good! (Come on Broncos!)

It's safe to say I am now equally excited about football food than I am the actual games...

  • Too many people to quote!! And I'm mobile and can't remember everyone's names I want to tag!! That was a very frustrating eagles win!! But what a game!!! Now to watch this Seattle game!! *sigh*....I love football! Better to let out the frustration than keep it in, and not drinking! We can do it this season ladies! Raising a pink lemonade and eating a wing for/with you!
    image
  • @ashleyinva‌ especially to win against the rivalry! I live in VA and am always asked why I don't like the redskins, as they're closest. I love my eagles though!
    image
  • I'm a Ravens fan! As everyone knows they are a second half team. My SO actually asked me if I was ok today lol. I told him football makes my blood pressure high and I may not be able to watch it while pregnant lol. Too much stress lol! I do miss my beer! I think beer is what kept me sane during football season lol!
  • I'm definitely a screamer (broncoooooos!). Maybe I should tone it down a bit?
  • By 'not stress' they mean don't be a refugee of war. The 'stress' of watching your favorite sportsball team lose or having a shitty day at work or arguing with your husband isn't going to harm your baby

I'm definitely a screamer with football! I'm sure it's fine!! But that little pain made me say "woah woman, tone it down". And maybe not jump up so quick, it may not be stress, but it definitely makes you lightheaded

  • Lazy and eat good stuff !!
  • Well think about it, last year the Broncos started out good and Seahawks came back for the win. Could happen again this year. I'm not currently watching the game, so idk what's going on, it is 8am over here and am stuck with the morning cartoons.

  • Packers fan here. After today's game the not drinking is the Only victory I can take.

Amen to that! I'm a huge packer fan too and so far it looks like this season will be stressful for baby and me!
  • I tried to go to the bar for week 1, but I was so anxious that I drank 3 club sodas in the first quarter and just had to pee a lot. I'm looking forward to slow cooker Sundays now.

    Go Steelers!

If we can convince Rogers to STOP throwing the ball to Lacey and instead just pass to Cobb or  Nelson then everything will be just fine...until then I will remain a stress ball..

andplusalso I wanted an excuse to post this Clay Matthews Gif:

...because that GIF is AWESOME SAUCE!!!!!!!!

  • As a Giants fan, I found the most frustrating thing about the Eagles game to be the result.  :P

The Broncos Seahawks game was the most entertaining game to watch yesterday.  The last minute of regulation time was Ah-mazing.  Too bad Denver couldn't pull out a victory.
I've always preferred how the NCAA OT rules give each team a possession, rather than the NFL's sudden death OT - (I mean - I think it's improved now that teams can't win it with just a field goal, but its still not as good as NCAA - too much rests on the coin toss IMO).

My football stress is more likely to come from watching college ball.  We have season tickets for my alma mater, and it's hard not to yell, scream & jump when you're in a stadium of yelling, screaming, jumping fans.

  • I'm an Eagles fan who is married to a Redskin.  It was so much yelling in the house. I promised to support the Redskins so I had to inwardly cheer and groan at the Eagles and then outwardly cheer and groan at the Redskins.  It was exhausting!

But I made some awesome crab dip as a nod to the Redskins and some soft baked pretzels as a nod to the Eagles this weekend and I thoroughly enjoyed those goodies!
Oh my gosh, so jealous of the crab dip and pretzels! Hubby and I are Eagles fans, and we went to dinner with my sister, who is a Redskins fan...tension was high! lol! Lots of screaming at that game yesterday!

  • Lions fan born&bred! During yesterday's game I probably overdid it on the jumping around and yelling haha but hey, it was the first time in years that we beat the Packers!!! Definitely wished I could've had a celebratory beer though!

@amshark I'm with you with the college OT rules. The only thing I don't like is that they start on the opposing team's 25 yard line. I'd like to see them work a little harder for a score...not start in field goal range.
    Yes, yes.  Agreed.
I suppose the NFL rules have a lot to do with TV schedules, and not messing too much with scheduled programming - but it still drives me nuts.

  • I am unfortunately from Cleveland so the games I watch are mostly always highly stressful and disappointing...I try not to watch too much. Haha
  • Tampa Bay fan here, needless to say, I don't have to worry about getting overly excited or stressed out. The only thing I worry about, is drowning my sorrows with a giant bowl of nacho cheese :(
