Hi ladies. I was wondering if anyone has/had experince with Valementous Cord Insertion? I was diganosed at my 18-20 week anatomy scan. The Dr. did not seem concerned but he did say he was going to monitor the baby's growth. As of right now everything seems to be on target and fine. I will have another ultrasound at 28-30 weeks and then we will go from there. I was reading I could have a csection as early as 25 weeks to prevent labor and rupture. I am really scared and nervous. Any experiences?

Re: Velamentous Cord Insertion
I am needing support and to hear from other woman about their experience.
Eta: my Dr said I've got to go in for monthly ultrasounds and starting about 30 weeks I've gotta go in for weekly monitoring.
She said I won't go to 40 weeks for sure.
I was so overwhelmed finding this news out today I couldn't think of questions. Thankfully I go back tomorrow for my appt and I'm prepared to ask more questions.

I had this with my son and was just monitored thorughout. I had an extra scan at 28 weeks to check and see how the cord was growing on the placenta and there was no cause to worry. I had to have C-section in the end because my baby was breech.
Best to you!

I go in monthly for ultrasounds to monitor the baby. Starting at 32 weeks I'll go in weekly for ultrasounds, and non stress tests.
Since finding out, I've seen my MFM and she reassured me that everything can be OK! I can go on to have a normal vaginal delivery, as long as he is growing good, and he passes the tests.
Yes, I'm facing risks, but she did mention last week at my appt that the velamentous cord looks better then she last saw a month ago. It won't correct itself. .. But she did say that mine is small and if she had to choose a velamentous cord to have, she'd choose mine. That's reassuring to me.
I talked to my midwife about this a few days ago and she confirmed what the MFM said, that I can still go on to have a vaginal delivery, and that most of the time they don't even know the woman had this, until after delivery!
I've been put at ease, some what. .. For the time being. I still get nervous when I think too much on it so I try and not worry about it.
How's everything with you? What did your Dr. Say?
I know it's not a black and white treatment plan. ... it's a case by case treatment, so curious about your's.
