West Valley or Banner Estrella? Need some input!

I'm hoping there's at least a few of you that are in Phoenix! No one ever posts on the Phoenix board so I don't feel like I'll get any responses and the only post on there about these 2 hospitals is a few years old.

I did a private tour of WV yesterday and I loved the nurse that gave me the tour but did NOT care for the L&D nurse AT ALL. I know it's not likely I'll wind up with her, but I left feeling really uncomfortable with the way she treated me. The second I said VBAC she started getting snippy with every single thing I asked her and I got so frustrated that I forgot most of my questions, to which she scolded me for forgetting.

DH wants me to deliver at WV since he works there but I'm leaning more toward Banner and I only have 2 friends that have delivered between the 2 in the past year. One at Banner a year ago and one at WV a month ago and both had really good experiences.

My tour at Banner is at the end of October.

    I don't live in Phoenix, but what about scheduling a second tour? If that one nurse was the main reason for you feeling uncomfortable a second impression might be what you need to make your decision.

    ME:46 MH:44 DE IVF 2014
    Met with RE 4/11. 2 IUI's BFN. DE best option. Switched clinics to do "shared" program. Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months. Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive.  Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)

    DE IVF #1 (4/26) BFN  DE FET #1 (6/4) BFP! Beta 1=339 Beta 2=852 Beta 3=9957 EDD 2/22/15!!

    I live in Tempe but my husband works for Banner Desert (where I will most likely deliver) but I can ask him if he's heard anything either way about both West Valley or Estrella.

    Not in AZ but I had a crazy nurse during our tour with our 1st. I told her my plan to breastfeed, etc. and she shot down everything. I went back a few weeks later when I needed my Rhogam shot and talked to another nurse. She had no clue what that lady was talking about. Chances are probably slim that you will get her. I wanted a med free labor and requested a nurse that was comfortable with that. I'm sure you could do the same.

    If you get a nurse you don't like, please speak up and say something! They will give you a different nurse. Labor is stressful enough without having a rude nurse.

     Loss and IF veteran. Current mom of DS 5.5, DD 2, and sometimes DH 40. Due June 2021 with TWINS

    You ladies crack me up! I'm really glad you would have told me not to use those names in the case I had a lapse of pure insanity haha :)

    Do you think it would be out of line if I specifically request to NOT have her when it comes time if I choose to deliver there? I agree that there's a chance I won't get her, but if I do then I'm afraid I'd get mean with her when I'm contracting and she decided to give me an attitude. DH said she's always really grumpy whenever he takes materials up to them and that makes me nervous. I'll have to see if I can get into L&D and talk to a different nurse that won't be so mean!

    One thing turning me away from WV is that they won't let me walk when I'm laboring. It's a big deal to me but I'm well aware that I could just be being a brat about it. I'll bring a labor ball in if I have to, which the meanie tried shooting down too, but I really don't want to be stuck on a monitor the entire time if I don't have to be :(

    @amyg* I'm not sure if my Pediatrician has privileges at either since they're in Glendale and I don't know why I never thought to call and ask. I'll have to do that this next week :) Banner and WV are equally as far from me and they're about 20 minutes away from me. My doctor delivers at both and she's the same doctor that delivered my girlfriends baby at Banner (that's how I found the doc lol). DH and I figured we'd just hang around wherever I decide when I start to go into labor since we're waiting as long as I can before being admitted. Westgate isn't super far from either and we have friends that live close to both places that have already offered to help out if we need it so I'm not too worried about the distance. There's nothing else that's really any closer for us and nothing else my doc travels to.

    No problem he's at work now so I can't ask him till tomorrow but I'll let you know what he's heard or can find out.

    I wouldn't say anything in advance. But you can always have your H go to the nurses station and request a different nurse. I had multiple nurses throughout the day so it would have been easy to say something, and I totally yelled at a nurse when I was pushing.
