Road trip tips please!

I think we might be totally crazy but DH wants to drive to Ohio from Colorado to see his family for a week or so. I have 9 days off work to go. This is about 20-22 hr drive each way. Are we insane for attempting to do this? Does anyone have any tips for road tripping with baby? He'll be 6 months old on Oct 1 and is FF only now.

I would fly. But I understand that doesn't always suit everyone / fit a budget! I would suggest making a "mini vacation" out of it. Planning on places to stop/ to visit.
I would also suggest driving through the night. Leaving right around LOs bed time and letting them sleep like normal!
We did a 13 hr trip and left around 10:30 pm drove until 9 am and stopped in VA to visit family-- stayed the day and the the next morning.

    Eta-- posted too soon

We took our girls on a family trip to yellowstone for 5 days (6 hr drive plus all the driving in the park each day.) They are always good in the car and sleep well in their car seats so we had that on our side. This was the longest they'd spent in the car, though. I often sat in the back seat to bottle feed them and we usually had to stop after 2.5-3 hrs in the car for a break or they would get cranky. We tried to time the long drives with typical nap time and used lightweight blankets to shade their car seats. We also traveled with family so occasionally we'd "borrow" a niece or nephew to ride in the back and entertain them. It worked great with no major meltdowns.
