Advice - palliative measures for shots

LO is receiving her 2 month vaccinations on Monday (a bit early because we should be back abroad by the time she is two months old).  Any advice for anything we can do to make her more comfortable before, during, and/or after?  Thanks!

Re: Advice - palliative measures for shots

  • They get over the shock of the needle very fast. Give Tylenol after if her leg hurts and/or she has a fever.

  • Ask your pedi if you can nurse or bottle feed while they give the shot

  • Some babies/kids are not bothered and do not need anything after. DS always cries for a second, then is completely fine post-vaccine. I would wait and see how LO does. Like PP said, they get used to the needle quickly and you can ask to nurse them while it happens.

  • I nurse right after to soothe.

    Bath and Tylenol at home.

  • I nursed right after for DD. She was grumpy but otherwise fine after a minute or two. But several hours after her 2 month shots she started screaming anytime anything touched her legs. A warm bath seemed to really help her work out the soreness and cramping.
