Fit pregnancy

Ladies! I need some help. I need some ideas for some laid back easy exercises to do during pregnancy. I am not a runner! In fact, I despise running- it just isn't for me. I was playing tennis every week but have given that up, as my bump doesn't really corporate. I have a gym membership (that I've secretly been neglecting) but could really use some ideas! Thanks!

Re: Fit pregnancy

  • Prenatal yoga! Apparently there are videos on Netflix to follow along with, and I'm sure Youtube will have a good selection as well. I keep meaning to do it just for the stretching since I am getting really bad calf pains and charlie horses. I am not a runner either, and have been walking but the hills kill my legs. A 4 mile hike I went on a couple weeks ago through the Mt Rainier Natl Forest was really nice and didn't hurt me... I'm guessing paved hills are no good for my legs, even with copious amounts of stretching. Ugh.

  • I have the full fitness app on my iPhone so I go to the gym when I get the chance and do a circuit by choosing some of the exercises in each category and mixing in cardio between sets.

I'll be starting my prenatal yoga class soon which isn't really a workout but it definitely leaves me feeling completely relaxed and rejuvenated after and more stretched out.

Other than that I just maintain an active lifestyle. Lots of walking places and hiking when I can, which is stuff I enjoy anyways.
  • I like walking at an incline at the gym on the treadmill. It's comfortably low impact but still gets my heart rate up.
  • Personally I like to go for walks or go hiking. I also found that YouTube has some good prenatal yoga videos that I really enjoy doing. I would definitley recommend giving them a try if you like yoga.

  • Thanks ladies! I love walking but live in NH and the temp is starting to drop. I guess I'll go to the gym :(

And where it says "corporate" in my pro goal post, it should say cooperate but the new iPhone update was giving me a hard time.
  • I'm basically just walking. It's much nicer with the cooler weather!

I did a 6 mile hike today. It felt great for the first 4.5 miles, those last 1.5 miles were a killer, I started having really hard contractions. Now I'm home trying to rest but my hips and pelvis are screaming at me.

Edit to add,we got to see some newly discovered dinosaur tracks and that was pretty cool!
  • Walking with wrist/ankle weights. Yoga - I go to a weekly prenatal class, is there one near you?
  • I love the stair master and light weight training. Also the treadmill on an incline (speed walking) or some little hikes. I try to set a 2 mile goal and usually end up at 3.
The idea is to maintain strength right? And get your heart rate up
