Hello,
Tried searching the high risk boards but couldn't find an answer from other moms who had experienced placenta accreta or percreta (but I'm on mobile). I've done research, seen a video with this type of delivery etc. but still thought I'd see if anyone here has experience with this.
At yesterday's NIPT blood draw and detailed scan (EDC 4/1/15), the tech mentioned that my placenta appears to be over my c-section scar and anterior. The baby looks good. I'm 36 and have had 3 prior c-sections as well as a D&C with my miscarriage last year. Makes me higher risk for this condition apparently.
Does anyone have any experience with this? I know there are a few L &D nurses here. I'm thinking from all that I've read so far, there's a good chance I'll need a hysterectomy and probable blood transfusion. Yes, I'll be asking a perinatologist at sometime in the future, I'm sure

. Thanks for any feedback.
Re: Placenta question
So placenta accreda happens when the placenta grows over the scar tissue from previous CS. The scar tissue is missing some important layers, one that works to keep the placenta seperate from the uterus itself. In this case the placenta grows into the uterus. So it won't detach after delivery as a normal placenta does.
It's a risk to the mother, not so much the baby. I'm sure they will do a few more scans to verify that's what it is and not just close to the scar.
Good luck!
