Applecheeks covers

Thinking about trying an applecheeks cover, and I know some of you really like them.  Just wondering if they tend to be better in the size 1 stage or the size 2 stage, or are they good throughout?  I know some brands are better with newborn covers but not larger sizes (or vice versa).

Also - do they tend to fit the slim/tall or the chubby babies better?  Thanks!

Re: Applecheeks covers

  • I have a tiny 7.5 month old who is 14 pounds but has long, pretty skinny legs. I can't seem to get ACs to fit her. I really want to like them but they just don't fit her well, no matter how I snap them. They say that you can put a size 1 on a newborn but I can't see that working on skinny legs. They are the only diapers that leak for us. The fit did improve a bit as she got bigger but they still leak. I'm undecided about whether I'm going to keep them and try again later or not. I haven't used size 2s so I can't comment on them.

  • I loved loved loved my size ones on my tall, chunky monkey. We started CD'ing at 6 weeks and around 10 pounds. They fit really well then, and I think they probably would have started fitting much earlier. (Maybe around 2-3 weeks.) He did outgrow them in the waist around 17 pounds and 6-7 ish months old, and the size 2 didn't fit until around 21 pounds and 9-10 months old.

The size 2s I have a love hate relationship with. They fit weird the first couple months. Then they fit well as he started thinning out from learning to crawl and later walk. Now at almost two and 27 pounds they fit weird again. No leaks or anything, just a weird fit in the legs.

That being said, I always have and probably always will love the 2 ply bamboo inserts. Crazy trim. Well made. Super absorbent. Pretty easy to wash.

Also unlike PP, I never had leak issues with the size ones. In fact they were probalbly my most reliable pockets that whole first six months of CD'ing. I had one cover delaminate on me, but my local CD shop replaced it under warranty. I've owned 7 size one covers and four size 2s. My size ones were used for 6-7 months in heavy rotation. And still look VGUC. The size two's have been used in light rotation with a very large stash for 15 months and still look almost new.

  • Oh CLL reminded me to say that I love ACs 2 ply bamboo inserts. So soft, trim and absorbent. They are my favourite inserts.

  • I have one size one AC, and I've been afraid to try it on L bc he still has skinny chicken legs at 7 weeks. I'll try it on him later and report back.
