Not 2 under 2- watching 2 under 5 months

Just started watching a 4.5 month old along with my 7 week old. Luckily it's only from 8:00-12:30 twice a week. So far it seems like they have either been awake together or sleeping. When awake they take turns crying or cry together. It's truly a juggling act meeting everyone's needs. If they are both upset I'm just taking turns soothing them/feeding them. Like 10 for you then 10 for you. Or mine in the moby while I play with her.

The good part is seeing how interactive and how much better at self soothing my little one might be in 3 months. (I have a ton of trouble putting mine down to sleep because she loves being attached to me.)

Anyone else with experience watching two young babies at once? Tips and tricks? Twin moms included!

Wow, good for you! I would be petrified to even attempt that! My first thought was well, there's the reason the human gestational period is 9 months! I think that age difference would be trickier than twins, but I think a singleton is tricky enough.
The good thing right now is they both are not mobile yet and still take decent mid morning naps. I also know that having them both will end in 4 hours and I'll have $50!

  • My niece is 3 days younger than my DD (they're both 3 weeks right now) and my SIL and I are talking about helping each other out with babysitting when we go back to work, but the idea of watching two of these lil ones is scary to me right now!

  • Sounds like you're doing great. Keeping one in the wrap is a good strategy. I haven't done it myself but I'll pass along what I saw DD's daycare do. They keep all the babies on a written 2-3-4 schedule...they aim for nap 1 two hours after morning wakeup. Then nap 2 three hours after waking from nap 1 (you probably only have to worry about 1 nap). They also change all babies at once every 2 hours. They'll change in between if someone poops, but otherwise they all get changed at the same time. And finally sometimes they'll just have to fuss/cry for a few minutes and that's ok too.
