Movement or Braxton Hicks?

For the past hour I've been experiencing... something.  It doesn't feel like what I remember early movement feeling like.  Rather it feels like what I remember BH contractions feeling like.  But I can't be feeling them *this* early, can I?  I got them early with DS and had them a lot, but definitely not at this point.  Maybe 16/17 weeks.   I am 14 weeks, 1 day.

    I am getting them already. I also have a history of early contractions so I am not surprised. 13 +5

    Well I feel better.  I don't usually worry about BH but I was getting concerned.  I forget how constricting they can feel!  Like you can't breath for a second, even though my uterus is so tiny right now!

    I think I know what you mean. What feels like my uterus hardening like Braxton hicks, but I don't know if it's just that or the fact that maybe the baby moved into a different position. It ends up going away after a little while but I've experienced it several times. I'm 14 wks 4 days.

    Yup, that's it exactly.  Kind of like the baby is moving and taking up the whole uterus, the only reason I though BH over movement was that the baby isn't that big yet.

    I'm glad I'm not the only one, I just don't remember this with my daughter, but that's was also 5 years ago.

    I've been experiencing this the last few nights (15wks). I thought the same thing, that it seemed too early for BH. Tonight I've also had sharp cramps that go along with it (maybe just gas pains).

    I've been feeling like this has been happening lately as well and I don't remember this happening so soon with my other 2. I did go into preterm labor with my daughter at 25 weeks, but I don't remember anything before that. I'm 12 w 3 d.

    I started bh around 14 weeks with my second.

    I've had that feeling too.  I had no contractions whatsoever before being induced with DD, some BH contractions later in pregnancy with DS, and occasional what feels like BH contractions with this one.

    Not the cause for me.  I am very hydrated.  I also did nothing but sit around yesterday so over doing it isn't the cause.  I think some people are just more prone than others.  Because I don't think I can handle drinking more than 96 oz a day.

    I had on idea braxton hicks could happen this early. I think I felt one today but I was half asleep and thought I might have imagined it. I'm 16 weeks 2 days.

    I am a FTM, so this may be a silly question to some but will I know the difference between BH and cramps?

    Ill be 16 weeks on Wednesday and have experienced some "weird cramping."

    especially after sex this one time in particular.

    I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think the difference between cramps and BH is just semantics, or maybe after some certain point in pregnancy they start to be called BH. Both are contractions of the uterine muscle fibers.

    The feeling you're describing after sex sounds like contractions. That's pretty common, especially after an O. I get contractions after orgasm really consistently, and occasionally at other random times.

    My ob had told me not to be surprised if I felt BH early this pregnancy. She said that after the first, it's common to get them starting in second trimester, whether you actually feel them or not. Haven't felt them yet but am relieved to know if I do, that it's common.

    I was literally just feeling this sensation today at 13w, 5 d thinking they can't possibly be BH this early.  I didn't get them until much later in my second tri with my first.

    I've had them a couple times since 14 weeks. Def don't remember them this early with my first. I think the explanation someone gave that is feels like a tightening sensation is right on.

    I'm actually up at 2:30 am my time because of these cramps I've been feeling on and off all day. Not sure when they are normal or when to be concerned. If they continue after tomorrow, I'm calling my OB. This is my first so I'm guessing this is the same as BH.

    Definitely call your OB if you are concerned and they are waking you up.  There are lots of reasons for cramps in pregnancy.  It could be BH (which again feels like a tightening, like suddenly there isn't a lot of room or something), it could be RLP (which feels more like a muscle cramp, usually located on the sides), or it could just be your bodies reaction to the changes it is going through.  Especially at this point in our pregnancies our muscles and joints start doing crazy things and you can experience pain.  I have a bum shoulder but lately have not experience pain in it, then suddenly last week the pain was so bad I was throwing up from it.  It's just my joints and muscles relaxing and shifting things around.  Annoying, but normal.  But again, I always think if it's waking you up or keeping you up that's worth a call!
