Suggestions?

Bear with me because I am in Dante's ring of Teething Hell. I just had two glasses of wine because I finally got my daughter to bed- I'll try not to have any typos.

What are your go to teething foods? Please share. I was a nanny for over 20 years and none of my tricks are working. My daughter has completely lost her desire for food. All I can get her to eat right now is puffs and crackers. She won't even touch her favorite foods, and normally she is such an enthusiastic eater. I don't want to force food in her and turn it into a traumatic experience. What worked for you? My daughter will be 10 months in a week. She wants mostly finger foods now.
Me:41, DH:41 Positive for MTHFR mutations- one copy C677T, one copy A1298C. One daughter born on Thanksgiving in 2013. Six losses.

Re: Suggestions?

  • What about putting fruit in a mesh teether? DS loved pineapple in those things when he was getting his in around that age.

    Cucumber. Cut into long strips.
I know it's not food, but a cold washcloth to suck on helped my oldest.
  • Yea, I wouldn't worry too much.  I would try cold things - yogurt, cucumber strips like pp said, etc.  And ibuprofen.  She'll get back in the groove soon.
  • Thank you everyone. I don't have a mesh feeder, I hadn't thought of trying one since she was getting so much into finger foods. That might be a good idea during these phases though. I might try that! I appreciate your thoughts!! She hasn't had cucumber yet so I don't know if she likes it, maybe I'll try it and see. :)

  • Pretty much everything @wife07mom09 said. I gave DD tylenol whenever she had teething trouble. A lot of her nutrition she still got from BM or formula still so even if she wasn't eating like normal, I just made sure she got plenty of (or extra) milk so she still got calories and not dehydrated. Teething rings, cold wash cloths, and mesh feeders with frozen fruit also help as well. Teething's no fun :(

Yep, chilled melon (cantaloupe, honey dew, watermelon) in a mesh feeder. My DD also liked to gum cold celery sticks.

They might numb her gums a little and then she may be more interested in her usual favorites.
