What would you require from a potential babysitter?

I am having a potential babysitter come over this evening to spend some time with me and the kids. She is from a local college (found her through a local facebook babysitting page). We have never used a sitter that was not either a family member or family friend. I am kinda nervous. She would be babysitting for a few hours 1-2 Saturday eves a month for date night. What do you ask potential sitters to provide? ID? References? Help!

    If it's not a family friend, definitely references and an Id, just to make sure she/he is who they say they are and are capable. That, and potentially watching them with the kids for a few hours, especially if the kids are too small to let you know if something weird or bad happened.

    Thanks all! We met her and she is great! She is an education major at a local college and is doing an internship at my son's elementary school. I asked for her ID and two references
