How to get pass the worrying!

Hey everyone,
All your post have been super supportive, but can anyone tell me how they got passed the worrying stage before the first ultrasound? My dr didn't have an appt until I would be 9 weeks, I am 7 now and have no bleeding or spotting, normal symptoms and I've been taking prenatals for 6 months. We are planning on telling our parents this weekend because I am tired of lying and hiding the truth, but I am so worried about the next two weeks. Any suggestions? Btw I am healthy and in my late twenties with no other medical or pregnancy history.

  • I have a son that turns 21 next week. Trust me the worrying never stops. Once you get pass one mile stone you will worry about the next. Just try to take deep breaths.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • Great advice! Thank you all! I'll just enjoy every day and take whatever it brings

My first pg I told my MIL "I am constantly worried something might go wrong. I have this overwhelming sense that I need to protect this baby at all times. It's all I think about." Her response was that's parenthood. You're a mom now. Welcome to the rest of your life.

Do the best you can. Love your baby and be the best mommy you can be. That's all you can do.

This is so true. You never stop worrying. Just take it one day at a time.

  • You are a parent now.  You will never stop worrying about your child.  Just enjoy that you are pregnant today.

You don't ever stop worrying. There's always something new to worry about at every stage, and it doesn't stop after they are born, either :-) Pregnancy is a long game of patience. So, do things that you enjoy, take a nap, eat some good food, and love your baby. That's all you can do.
So freaking true.  I am freaked out right now about losing this baby and you are right that the worrying never goes away.  My son is 18 months and I don't think I have stopped worrying about something related to him for the past 2 years.

    Hang in there

  • You are not alone!  I'm still back here in 4 1/2.  I do expect some sort of relief after the 12th week.  I try to remember that phrase about how it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.  What we are experiencing is a really neat part of life.  I would hate to get to the end of this wonderful 9 month journey and wish I had allowed myself to enjoy it in its fullness.  It can be so hard to do but those are the thoughts that help me worry less.
  • I'm so worried too. I'm 4 weeks and 3 days. This is my first pregnancy. I'm just nervous of something happening. I've been enjoying no MS yet just some cramping and sore boobs. I have to wait 4 more weeks to see my doctor. I know they can't do much right now but I just want to know that everything is okay. I guess welcome to motherhood for all of us worriers.
  • I am in your same boat! This is my first pregnancy and I am just so worried. My mom said, welcome to being a mom, you now get to worry the rest of your life.

I keep thinking that once I see a heartbeat, I'll feel better. I even find myself wanting to take HPTs to make sure they are still positive, although, I haven't taken one since the day I got my BFP. I have a lot of symptoms, so I know that's a good sign that everything is going well, and I haven't had any spotting or anything.

I know I don't really have a reason to, but I still worry.
  • So many amazing answers here! I'm a big worrier too, and I really just need to remember to breath and enjoy the moment. Thank you all! :)
