Pregnant after a Loss

Movement ???

For you ladies that are a little further along, when did you feel movement? The closer my anatomy scan gets the more I freak out :/ I am now 18 weeks and feel light flutters but nothing I'm sure of at this point. And once you knew it was your baby, what did it feel like? My crazy is in full effect today lol ughh :(

Re: Movement ???

  • I remember feeling movement probably right around 19 weeks.  I didn't fully attribute the feeling to her until after my anatomy scan (because pgal brain was really intense), but once I knew she was fine I knew what I had been feeling was her.  For me, it felt like little muscle spasms a few inches below my belly button and almost all on the right side.  I didn't feel anything that I was absolutely positive of until more like 20/21 weeks.  That was when I started to get actual kicks which felt a lot like popcorn popping.  I've also felt what I think were bubbles she was blowing that felt like a little tickle and reminded me of tiny bells.  I'm not sure why it made me think of tinkling bells, but I don't know how else to describe it.

  • Do you know if yu have an anterior or posterior placenta? If it's anterior (attached on the front) it may be a week or so longer until you really feel anything. Mine is anterior and it was about that time that I could really tell for sure that it was baby moving.

  • I was around 17 or 18 weeks before I could feel anything that I was pretty sure was movement.  Someone on my BMB described it as what it feels like when a pet goldfish bumps the inside of the bag you take them home in - I thought that was a pretty accurate description of what I was feeling.

  • @MrsTuna08 I love the goldfish description! I would have to say it is pretty accurate.

I am 18w2d and just started feeling something a couple days ago. Feels a bit like gas, but I like the goldfish description better. It has also felt like bubbles popping.

  • I didn't start to feel the baby until around 19-20 weeks. I can't totally remember what it felt like at first, but I do remember it was distinct enough that I knew for sure it was the baby.

  • Thank you! I definitely feel things they just aren't what I expected I guess. I'm thinking is it gas or the baby all the time lol. Hopefully it gets stronger soon :)

  • I didn't feel movement where I knew for sure it was the baby until about 21-22ish weeks.

  • I didn't feel much movement with my first until 22 weeks.  Apparently she was moving like crazy at my A/s, but nope, I couldn't feel it.

This was me too. The doc was like, "woah, did you feel that? He just gave you a big kick." Yep, nope. Nothing.

  • @MrsTuna08‌ hahaha... That goldfish description is perfect.

I was wondering if I would ever feel this little guy. I felt flutters from Finn around 15 weeks.. This one I didn't feel him until around 18-19.. Now he seems to be kicking up a storm.
    ;)

  • I'm 21 weeks now and have been feeling him moving sense 19 ish weeks. It's just now getting more consistent. I think when it happens you will know, I can't put into words what it feels like. I like the goldfish reference
  • I think if you are feeling flutters and assuming it's gas, it's time to assume it's actually baby :) When I started feeling movement it felt a little fizzy, a little like bubbles, or swishiness. It didn't feel like actual pokes until later on (maybe 20 weeks - I can't believe I'm forgetting this!). I hope he or she decides to give you a good jab soon so you'll be very sure ;)
