Behind the Name says that's a legit Spanish/Italian spelling . . . but if the average American used that spelling I'd just assume they were ignorant of the correct Michaela spelling.
  • I prefer Michaela over Micaela but I don't hate Micaela. I do however hate every other spelling of the name. I actually really love the name Michaela but it is so commonly creatively spelled that I feel nobody would ever know how to spell it. Case in point, the spellings used in 2012, the number beside the name is the number of babies that were given the name in the year of 2012. (Michaela is the only one without a squiggly red 'wrong' line under it)

  • My niece is Makayla, but I would always spell it Michaela.
  • I've seen Michaela and McKayla.
  • Another one for Michaela.

I would not pronounce half of the ones on @daystardreams‌' list like michaela.

  • Michaela spelling looks best to me. I find it sad that McKayla has gotten so popular. Mc is for last names...
  • Michaela.

Michella would be Michelle-ah to me.

My vote is for Mikayla. I love the name but "Michaela" looks too masculine to me and personally if I didn't know the name I would pronounce it "Michael-ah". Guess I'm in the minority here, but whatever.
  • Michaela is a real name. The others are, no matter now trendy, not.

  • Michaela....I would pronounce Michella as Michelle-ah as well
  • Since my name is Michaela - I will shed some light on what I've been called throughout my life. My name is pronounced Ma-KI-la…long i.

I've been called MaKayla, Michelle-ah, Michael-ah, and Michael.

I love my name and wouldn't change it for anything. It's a great conversation starter and I'm always receiving compliments on it. It's nice to have a different pronuncation than the usual MaKayla.

Didn't read any of this did you? I am NOT trying to invent a name, or be trendy or youneek, I knew the name I liked and didn't know how to spell it and didn't like the spelling of the name I saw in a baby book.
