Well this blows

I went to have the essure done and had a reaction to the lidocaine (sp?). I'm in the hospital, my in-laws (who are 80 yo) are watching my kids, and I'm really loopy. I started getting dizzy and everyone sounded funny. It went downhill from there. I love my OB, he's sitting with me and chatting for a bit every now and then to keep me reassured that everything is ok. It was very scary, I couldn't understand what people were saying for a bit there. Now I'm just being monitored. I have moments of clarity and moments where I can't find the right words. This is not how this was supposed to go.

Did everyone start sounding really tinny and mechanical-y and then far away/no sound? I almost fainted during my labor two days ago, and that happened to me. It was really weird. I've had the pre-fainting blurry vision/seeing spots things before but my HEARING had never been affected before. It was scary. I hope you start feeling normal soon!

  • So sorry!! Feel better!!
  • Thanks ladies! I'm home and feeling so much better. I'm tired and sore and every once in a while have trouble finding the right words. I am so grateful my in-laws happened to be here to help with the kids. Andrew didn't really get a nap, but they're alive and fed, so I'll take it.

@shoesontoes‌ At first their voices sounded slurry. Then later at the ER, their words didn't make any sense to me. It was like everyone was speaking a different language or talking way too fast. I could understand the first word or two, but not the rest of the sentence. So bizarre.

    I'm also starving. I think that's a good sign.

  • Were you still able to get the procedure done?
  • @monkeybutt61612‌ Unfortunately, no. He injected the lidocaine and left to let it take effect. I texted DH to come back to the room because I felt dizzy. I think it was about 5 minutes after the injection. I told DH to get someone and ask if I was supposed to feel this way. My OB and nurse came back and I told them they sounded funny. Dr checked my vitals and they were fine. I was getting more and more disoriented and confused. He didn't feel comfortable just trying to treat me there, so he took me to the hospital for fluids and monitoring. I'm pretty sure he was worried about allergic reaction and breathing or heart problems. I just kept saying "no ambulance" LOL.

I sort of freaked out and told everyone in my ER room that I only wanted my doc because I trusted him. I apologized later. I never would've said something like that if I was lucid. Apparently, I refused to change into the hospital gown, told them not to put more than one bracelet on me, and tried to tell them what kind of needle to use for the IV. DH says I also bitched about the ice in the water. I guess I'm a bitchy patient deep down. I'm sure they just loved me. I do feel bad for my terrible behavior.

  • Oh no! That sounds like a very stressful experience! I'm sorry that after all that the procedure didn't get done as well!

And I can guarantee you weren't the most difficult patient the ER dealt with today :)

Rest up and I hope you feel better soon!

  • Nurses are used to all kinds of patients. I'm sure they didn't even think anything of it! Glad you're feeling better now :) I hate feeling 'off' like that. Almost like a drunk feeling when I'm not drunk. It freaks me the eff out.

Yes! It felt like I was beyond drunk, but without any stomach issues.

Yup. That when I start to freak out because I think something seriously wrong for me to be feeling this way without having done anything to get to that point :p It's kinda scary!
