Teething Tabs?

When DD was itsy, using the Hylands teething tabs was somewhat controversial. I know there was a huge recall years ago and the company used to use nightshade in them...but I know they're still around and haven't heard any negative press lately.

What say you, A14?

(ETA: if you're comfortable using them, do you feel they work?)

Re: Teething Tabs?

  • I had someone recommend these today and told me to avoid orajel. I haven't used anything yet just dealing with the fuss and drool so far so I'm all ears as well.

  • We just started using Hyland's last night. I did see the FDA recal years ago but apparently they have updated their method of making the tablets so there are trace amounts of belladonna in each tablet and the FDA hasn't had a recall since. We'll see if they help!

  • We use Hyland's teething gel. I honestly don't know that it makes any difference in teething pain at all, but LO seems to like it for about 5 seconds.
  • Hylands is homeopathic. The way homeopathic medicine works is really different than conventional medicine. The amounts involved are less than one part per billion. By several factors of ten. I will type more when I'm not mobile but suffice to say saying they contain belladonna is a little misleading.

We use them. Idk if they work but sometimes I'm desperate and doing something makes me feel better.

  • We use them and oftentimes feel as though they help. LO has cut two teeth since Monday and the poor guy is pretty miserable. I let the tabs dissolve near his lower gums and he usually calms down/falls asleep pretty quickly afterwards.

  • We use the earths best organic teething gel and it seems to work my little ones two bottom teeth just popped through last week!!
  • We have been using hylands but when we took LO to peds on Friday the recommended not using them because of the belladonna. Are next try is going to be the essential oils. He seems to be less of a hot mess when he has his amber on as well.
