For the past month, I have been avoiding hot teas, because it seems like all of my favorites "may not be safe" to drink while pregnant. I was especially upset about my kava tea (the main ingredient was the main offender in that one). I know to avoid green teas, since they inhibit folic acid absorption and a couple of others.
So I was wondering, what are your favorite teas that are safe to drink during pregnancy?
Also, I keep seeing sites referring to the controversy of red raspberry leaf (RRL) as an ingredient in teas made to drink during pregnancy; I know I drank the Yogi Pregnancy blend last pregnancy, and I am pretty sure that one has RRL in it. I know RRL is supposed to promote uterine health, and the tea was recommended to me by a doula. Does anyone know what was wrong with this ingredient?
Thank you!
Re: Question for Hot Tea Lovers
"Red Raspberry Leaf (Likely Safe) – Rich in iron, this herb has helped tone the uterus, increase milk production, decrease nausea, and ease labor pains. Many of the Pregnancy Teas commonly contain red raspberry leaf to help promote uterine health during pregnancy. There is some controversy about whether this should be used throughout pregnancy or just in the second and third trimester, so many health care providers remain cautious and only recommend using it after the first trimester."

Anyone like Good Earth Original Sweet and Spicy? It's one of my favorites and comes in a decaf option. I haven't had a chance to talk to my doc about the safety of the ingredients yet but I will next week.
