Another toddler bed post.....sorry

Ok, so we are getting closer to making the switch. If you've switched your LO tell me about what is still in the room? Dresser? Book shelf? Locks on sliding closet? Curtains? Chair? Toys? DS has a dresser and book case which we will anchor and I will put locks on the dresser drawers. There's a sliding closet so I will get some child proof stuff to prevent him from getting in there. I'm not sure if I should take the curtains down or not. And I'm not sure about whether to leave books and toys in there. Currently he doesn't ever play in his room. We do books and bed/nap time. That's it. Thanks for your input.

  • We have his room extremely simple - his dresser, his bed, and a small play mat with a few books and a few stuffed animals. So far he hasn't messed with the dresser drawers, but if he starts I will definitely buy locks. His closet is odd (our house is from the 1800's but redone, but his closet still is in the old style) so it can't really lock. For now I just put his hamper in front of it! Haha. :) We don't have curtains, we have blinds and he can't reach them yet. Everything else is either on a built in shelf where he can't reach or attached to the wall where he can't reach! I was planning on posting some pics on IG later, but really it's a very plain room for now!

  • Bookshelf and changing table (which has blankets stored on it and a couple small toys he never touches) which are anchored to the wall. His dresser drawers have child locks. I don't worry about his closet, he opens the sliding doors and takes his clothes down sometimes but nothing he can hurt himself with. We don't have curtains, just blinds and a shade, he reaches the bottom but again nothing he can get hurt with. I would leave very few toys in there so there's nothing to play with at night. Sometime DS will read in bed or dump his books on the floor but usually he realizes it's too dark to see and goes back to bed.
  • I plan to use the same drawer locks you can use for kitchen drawers. I haven't tried to install them though so I'm not entirely sure they will work.

This is what we did. We have old dressers and it worked well.
  • @sih33 those straps are my back up plan, and I plan to see if i can use those straps on the sliding closet doors.
