Tips for getting LO to take bottle

Hi ladies,
I am sure this has been discussed before. I need tips and bottle suggestions for getting my 2 month old DD to take bottle.
We have tried Born Free, Lansinoh Momma, Medela, and Playtex Ventaire. I don't think it's a bottle issue since she won't even allow a nipple to go into her mouth. She has even refused pacifiers from birth.
I feel like we tried all the tricks recommended to get her to take bottle.
I have a full day training on 10/22 so would really love for her to take bottle before then.

TIA!

Re: Tips for getting LO to take bottle

  • The key for my LO is to warm the nipple with hot water just before you give it to him.

He's a bit of a diva about bottles and it has to be the perfect temp and warm nipple or he's not having it.

    Good luck!

Thx. DH is the one that tries. On two occasions I wasn't even in the house for long periods of time and she wouldn't take it

  • My DD is also finicky about bottles. Agree about warming the nipple first, and we've had good luck taking a shirt I wore the day or night before and using it like a blanket around her (so she can smell me) while someone is giving the bottle. It also seems to help to have her sit on the persons lap with the back of her head against their chest, facing outward so she can't see who it is. The bottle that's worked best for us is the Munchkin Latch. Good luck!

  • LO was so stubborn about the bottle.  He took it with no problems until 3 months and then just refused to let the thing get near him until he was almost 6 months and I was done with maternity leave.  In between, my H tried every trick out there (i.e. different bottles, taking a step back & spoon feeding him milk, sip cups, straw cups, reintroducing bottles), it was so stressful.  Eventually, it just came down to my H "waiting" him out.  H waited until LO was super hungry, stuffed his mouth with the bottle and LO begrudgingly took it.  Each feeding just got better and easier after that but LO did boycott the bottle until I was officially back at work.  We use the como tomo bottle and get the milk pretty warm.  GL!
