I started having contractions Tuesday evening at 6. They started about 20 min apart and ended up at 5-6 min apart lasting for an hour. They werent very painful but by Wednesday morning I called the OB office and they had me come in. I had dilated from a fingertip on Monday at my 36 week appt to 3 cm!
I had a NST done and baby was doing good, so my OB checked me about two hours later-no change. So he sent me home to try to get some sleep.
About 6:30 ctrxs were every 3 min lasting 1 1/2 min. I called the hospital and she basically brushed me off. Told me to drink 2 bottles of water, take a Tylenol and lay down for an hour. I was in a lot of pain by then and this aggravated me so much. (I had also had my bloody show but she brushed this off too). I did what she said for 45 min and they werent any better. Went in to the hospital and I was still a 3. So I got sent home again. I took some pain meds the OB prescribed and it help me sleep which I desperately needed.
So now, Im still having contractions, and pain (a lot of back pain) and Im completely grumpy. Im perfectly fine with letting her cook longer since Im only 36w3d today, but WHY do I have to have consistent painful contractions that arent doing anything? They need to go away if she isnt coming now.
Tl;dr
Having painful contractions consistently since Tuesday evening but it isnt real labor. It sucks, and now Im a grump. And confused about how to know when real labor starts.
Re: Prodromal labor is the pits... (Poor me post)
Try not to think of these contractions as unproductive! They got you to 3cm already, right? They're prepping you perhaps for an easier L&D when the time comes.
Hang in there!
ETA: I see @Duder pretty much said the same thing. Whoops! :P
Hope you feel better!!!!
@crawford411 thanks for the tips about the heat wrap and medicine for sleeping. Constant contractions really wear you out plus not being able to sleep at night from them.
Sorry you have been having a rough time of it plus everything else this last trimester. If you can do it, I can do it
I honestly dont know that much about it. For me it was different from BH because it got more painful and closer together and lasted for over 24 hours (and counting.) nothing they tell you to do to stop BH stops them.
Basically it feels like real labor contractions you just dont progress like you do with real contractions.
