Here we go...nausea

A little into 6 weeks and I think the nausea is kicking in. Didn't have this before with my previous pregnancy (ended in MC). So at first I wasn't sure if my feeling yucky was MS or just coincidence. But today has been nauseating all day. Haven't thrown up but I feel awful. And fatigue kicked in all full steam today as well...so tired!

I know there are other threads with remedies for nausea - but if you'd like to share your tips and tricks I would surely appreciate it.

  • The same thing happened to me!! Wasn't really sure if I was just feeling gross and then the next day I couldn't get out of bed my nausea was so bad :( I've actually been drinking seltzer water with lemon and plain rice cakes.. It's been working better than ginger ale. I hope you feel better!!

  • This happened to me last weekend at 7 weeks 1 day...what I've done is had some crackers before moving in the morning. It helps a bit!
  • Unsalted saltines have been my nausea go to. They have helped me but everyone is different.
  • Feeling so yuk! Fingers crossed thus gets better. Drinking lots of water and plain food. Fruit seems to agree with me.
  • My nausea is so bad this last whole week. I've tried lemon water, ginger tea, straight up fresh ginger, crackers, peppermint, everything I've read so far yet nothing is making me feel better. It lasts all day, too. I'm not sure what to do anymore and I'm only 6 weeks and four days. I'm going to try the seltzer water next :( thanks for the information. This is my second pregnancy. My first one I had no symptoms whatsoever.
  • My m/s started 4 days ago, not horrendous but just an almost all day underlying nausea feeling. I just feel yuck also. I only had 2 days of this last time & because of several u/s I know it was when there was a heartbeat for 2 days. I am feeling excited it came earlier in the pregnancy this time & has stuck around, even if it sucks. I swear my m/s coincides with the heartbeat. Just a theory for me.

  • It's kicked in for me too, so fun! I've been using DoTerra Peppermint Beadlets and they've helped a ton! I just pop one under my tongue and I feel better very shortly after. Good luck!

  • Ugh- I'm right there with you! My doctor said feeling sick is a good sign, so I just keep repeating that to myself. I read somewhere that keeping mints or some hard candies on hand helps, and that has worked for me. I also got some ginger lozenges that are helping. Hope some of this helps!
  • I have had this all day nausea for a week now. Going up and down the stairs makes me want to hurl, but no actual puking. Since this is my first pregnancy I tried to tough it out but caved and called the doc office yesterday and she prescribed diclegis. Which is a class A drug so same category as prenatals. Hope this helps.
  • Mine also started at around 6 weeks and has been going strong since then. No vomiting (thank goodness) but feeling awful all day. Sick empty feeling in my stomach and eating is the last thing I want to do. The fatigue also hit around the same time...having a hard time at work!

I second the mints and hard candies! For me sometimes it HAS to be mint, and sometimes it doesn't matter. I have a stash in the bottom of my purse, very useful for when the nausea strikes while out and about - like yesterday when I was in line at the post office. Doesn't always make it go away 100% but it will at least curb it a little.

How hard was this to actually chew?  My chiropractor suggested it but I can't bring myself to actually put a piece in my mouth.  She told me to just chew it for a while and then spit it out.

Peppermint tea and lifesavers have been helping keep the extreme nausea at bay.  Still feel yucky though.

  • If you can't handle chewing ginger, boil the root to make tea. Add honey. Very soothing.
  • Make sure you never let yourself get hungry! Eating a bite of food every 20-30 minutes has been my lifesaver.
  • Grape nuts cereal is bland and the only thing I want when I'm nauseous. It's been awful lately. The thought of eating anything makes me want to throw up but I'm starving at the same time. And things don't taste the same to me anymore. But grape nuts have been pleasant to my stomach and taste buds lately.

What do you think of the med? I've been on it two days now. Maybe it helps a little? It makes me so tired during the day though. I'm taking two before bed. What are you taking?

So far I still feel the same. I'm taking the two at night. And I'm gonna wait the three days and most likely take the morning dose as well on third day. It has for sure gotten worse as the day goes on (drug wearing off?)
  • I had almost no nausea the first time around... This time is different, though. Certain foods make me want to puke, certain smells do the same. I have not gotten sick yet, but yikes. It seems to help if I am sure not to let myself get hungry (which is nearly impossible seeing as I am constantly ravenous). I try to eat at least a couple of crackers every hour or so. I still get nauseous, but not nearly as badly.

  • @welly336‌ I just took a vegetable peeler and peeled off a piece and popped it in, chewed it a couple times, then put it under my tounge or lip. It's helped but today I forgot to take my prenatal vitamins and I haven't felt nearly as sick. Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe they are to strong for my stomach to handle?
