Dropping cable

Has anyone does this and how much do you miss it? We can save $80 a month if we only have the cable modem. We have a smart TV with Netflix and I rarely watch TV as it is . Did you drop cable and never look back? They promised me one price and now it's $20 more and I'm pissed I just want to say fuck them.

    I would love to.  But, DH basically watches one channel (Velocity - the car  channel) and it's not available online at all. BOOOOO!

    We dropped the dish almost 3 years ago. We don't miss it at all. We use Prime, netflix, huluplus, and a ton of roku channels.

    The only negative is that when the internet goes out we are suddenly thrown into the dark ages. But thankfully that only happens a few times a year.

    We dropped down to basic cable w HBO plus internet. That's apparently a package that's available.

    We use my sister's info for ESPN but our Apple TV is too smart and recognizes we don't get ESPN proper so we need to do a work around, but it's possible.

    I miss Sunday Ticket, honestly. But I'll get over it.

    I am a TVholic and thought I would hate not having cable when we dropped in April but I have barely noticed. We bought on antenna box and one roku so we have local channels for the news and all the free content on the roku. I also have friends/family passwords for Netflix and Hulu and am never out of stuff to watch.

    We went from paying 171 per month to paying 40 per month. Can't beat having an extra hundred dollars per month

    We are thinking about dropping our cable soon too.  I LOVE TV so it hasn't been done yet b/c I'm scared to do it lol.  

    Anyway...we have Netflix and I like it, but almost everything on it is older and not up to date with current seasons.  

    Is their a way to drop cable, but still get the basic channels like CBS, ABC, FOX, etc?  Do you just cut channels and the price goes down?  I don't care about things like HBO, we don't have that right now anyway.  However, my DH would have to have ESPN.  I'm really tired of paying $180 a month for cable.  Help me out if you can?

    I did this and it worked. We got a really good promo rate when we moved and it jumped up $60 when I moved. I called and outright said, if you dont drop my rate, I will be switching to the other cable company in our area or just getting netflix. I told them I know that cable companies are hurting right now, so I'm sure they would want to give me a reduced rate rather than losing my business altogether. I was transferred to a manager and got $55.00 knocked off, so I said close enough, I'll take it.

    That should say jumped up $60 a year later, but I cannot edit on my work computer for some reason.

    They make it so that it's not even worth it to pay for those basic channels. And then home phone goes up. I'm dropping that too. I hardly talk on the phone and I have the damn cell.

    We didn't drop completely- our internet is with the same provider and it was cheaper to keep basic cable than to do just internet. We have Netflix and Amazon Prime (and a Chromecast) but don't use them all tha much. We made the switch back in mid June and I just learned this week that we don't get ESPN or HGTV, so I'd say we haven't looked back. Also, I only discovered we don't have those two channels because my BFF was in town and trying to watch them. She was appalled by how few channels we get and insisted she'd never be able to live like that. I've never been a huge tv person and now sleep definitely trumps watching it.

    I used to watch a lot of tv . Now rarely . I'm too tired. It's like my attention Span for it has waned for whatever reason. And I want to read more . DD is not even two and I think she'll be satisfied with Netflix. I'm gonna do it!!!!
