I also watch the housewives and kardashians. My IQ drops a few points after watching but oh well.
My UO is that I hate all of the cooking shows. I think it's so stupid since everyone has different tastes. It is unbelievable how dramatic the shows are. It's just food!!
I guess mine is that I have no interest in the Housewives or Kardashians. I watched the Original Housewives of Orange County though, about 7 or 8 years ago. I also can't stand American Idol. And I'm proud to say that I never watched one episode of Jersey Shore. It all seems like the biggest waste of time to me to watch any of that crap.
I think spanking is ok in some situations (when nothing else works, the child is old enough to understand, and it is not done out of anger). I'm not sure if we will spank DD or not but I'm coming from my own personal experience growing up. Flame on
NO flaming ! I totally agree with you. I used to get spankings and I turned out WAYYYY better then some. I think that's what's wrong with kids these days, no Discipline .

I was spanked as a kid too. MH and I recently had a discussion about it, although I can't remember what we decided. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. I don't necessarily have a problem with it either when it is within reason. I do remember explaining to him that I DO remember the last time I was ever spanked. It was my dad who spanked me, and I remember going to my room and crying, and thinking to myself "I'm way too old to just have had my butt smacked. Wtf?"

DH will definitely use spanking as a discipline method when he feels it's necessary and Sophie is old enough to associate that with a dangerous behavior. I will probably use more creative methods of discipline. Actually, I'll probably count to three and roll my eyes a lot. Lol. I'm a sap.
Edit: posted too soon.
Don't let him be the main one doing the disciplining. You may end up not getting any respect and dealing with many behaviors you wouldn't have to if you took a role in the discipline.
I speak from experience.
I just know that DH was punished out of anger alot. He learned his lesson, but I have made it clear that spanking will not be done until the parent has calmed down. We will both punish/ spank/time out/grounding. We will find what works, but I believe to never put your hand on your child while still mad. Send them to their room and cool down for 10 minutes first. I will have to work on this myself.
We've spanked dd. We mostly do a counting method and it's worked pretty well.
I like watching the news. If you can't follow traffic laws, you shouldn't be driving. We almost got hit twice yesterday because people switch lanes without looking.
My UO: I plan on giving (and do give) my kids lots of independent time. I will plop Jack in his room on the rug and let him go to town while I do laundry and clean, always within earshot.
Once he and future siblings are old enough I'll kick then outside to play on their own during nice weather. If they want to roam the neighborhood at 10 or 11 years old, they can.
I saw an article somewhere about a trend of parents getting CPS called on them for letting their elementary aged kids play in the yard on their own. Personally I think that is friggin ridiculous.
I don't know how I'd get ANYTHING done if I didn't give LO independent time. I always have her in the same room as me, but sometimes I'll also just plop her on a blanket or in her exersaucer while I do laundry, dishes, etc.
WisconsinCheese12 I love that you make notes on what to post! sometimes I think I should do that. it's always "ooo, that's good!" then I sit down to write and draw a blank.

This is more of a confession, but I let my 3.5 year old play in the backyard by himself while I prep dinner or clean the kitchen. I can see him from the window and the backyard is fenced. I constantly worry the cops are going to show up.

SERIOUSLY!? CPS would always be in our neighborhood then - there's a corner where the kids are outside all the time playing together. I think it's amazing & I hope there's kids LO's age when he's old enough to do the same.
I'm pretty sure this happened in Austin TX. It was a blogger mom, I believe.

I wear leggings with long tops and boots every single day in the fall/winter. ETA. And I love skinny jeans. I think anyone can look good in them with the right shirts.
Me too, I think I'm going to miss my maternity ones this year .

I still wear my maternity jeans/yoga pants. They are still more comfortable than my regular (pre-pregnancy) ones and I haven't had a chance to buy new pants yet. FFFC?

I hear of one mom got arrested because her kids (7 &9) were playing in the street, a cul-de-sac, and she was sitting on her porch supervising. Old lady next door called CPS because she did not like the kids playing out side. Mom got arrested for child endangerment.... what a load of crap!! Heaven forbid the kids be playing outside

I hate skinny jeans. they make lots of girls look like potatoes on toothpicks. myself included. bootcut all the way!
I also hate leggings as pants. no. just no. I don't think that's a UO, but sooooooooo many girls do it!
sorry I only got lame ones today.
