A little confused and looking for some opinions.
I've been with my OB since before I started TTC so about 6-7 years. I like her a lot and the group. However, she has since had twins and started working half the time at a location near her home (about 40 min away from me). The other location is also far(about 30) , but is connected to the hospital in our medical center.
When I called to let them know about my BFP on Wednesday, I learned she is part time now and is out Wed and Thurs. They said they'd message her, but I haven't heard back yet.
She knows me and my history well and I really love her, but I'm thinking it may be time to switch due to location and her work schedule.
What do you guys think? Have any of you switched not because you were unhappy with doc? I'm a little nervous about seeing someone new.

Re: OB WWYD
I'm sure you could find another OB that you love just as much as your current OB.
My OB was great until I had a miscarriage and then her staff and her were horrible. I switched to a new practice and I love my new OB so much more. His staff is absolutely wonderful! I know you said you liked your OB and she hasn't done anything wrong, but im just saying I found one I loved, more than the first, in no time at all.
Good luck with your decision!
I was pretty nervous about finding a new doctor and I originally was going to just go back to the obgyn I'd been seeing before we moved to CO. However, she and the hospital I'd be delivering at were at best 25-30min away. During rush hour, it could take up to an hour to get there or back home. The highway her office and the hospital are located on is undergoing MAJOR construction, too. I liked her just fine as my gyn, but the possibility of having a hard time getting there in a timely manner in the case that I needed to made me nervous. So, when I got a recommendation for an OB only 10min away with the delivery hospital also 10min away I decided to take the chance and switch. The convenience has been amazing for us and I lucked out in that my doctor and hospital are great.
That being said, we did choose a pediatrician who is twice as far as the other one we were considering because their policies are much more parent friendly. It is a bit of a drive, but the peace of mind that will come with having them be our baby's doctors will be worth it for us.
Is your OB 40 minutes in another direction from the hospital or just 10min further? If it is just 10min further, I might stick it out, but only if there is a plan in place for your delivery and any emergencies since she is part time now. If it's 40min in another direction, I would probably look for someone closer. And btw, I met my new doctor and officially switched to her when I was 28 weeks. It's a bit harder to switch after a certain point, but really you have some time to find someone you like closer if that's what you choose to do.

@JuddandJessica the situation you describe may be the case when she is out or at the satellite. I know they deliver their own babies when they are at the main campus though.
I think I might start with a combination of what you both said. Talk to OB about the plan when she is out and ask about occasionally seeing someone else on the practice so I can get to know them. I asked for recommendations on a local board today and a friend actually mentioned someone in my ob's group, so I might see if I can see her as a back up.
Thank you all for your feedback. Much appreciated!
