We're having a discussion at work about leggings. (Because well it's Friday and everybody's bored and ready to go home). Anyway, the discussion is that on little girls, rougly between newborn-5, leggings are ok and even cute to wear as pants. However, once you hit the middle school age and above (no matter what your size is) they are unexceptable to wear with nothing to cover them. I'm curios to know what everybody else thinks? It's been awhile since I was in school and at the time we weren't even wearing leggings. Does the school dress codes now say that leggings are not allowed?
Re: NWMR: Leggings. At What Age Do They Become "Inappropriate" To Wear As Pants?
I agree that on little girls, 0-5yrs, it's cute. Any older than that and you should be wearing them with tunics, longer shirts etc. My school did not allow leggings, but it was a Catholic private school.
Keep it classy.

What are we defining as leggings? Because this is damn cute...
My ass looks good in leggings.
But yes, leggings shouldn't be thin tight material worn with short shirts.
In fact, I needed out of the office so I wandered around BFC (only thing close) and scored some previously expensive fleece lined leggings. I found an amazing plum pair.
Oh, yes.
This is what comes up on Kohl's for leggings - and this is what DD has and wears like pants. I usually try to get her to wear a longer top with them but not always. They are thicker than tights.

I am also in leggings as I am in my office with the door shut working on motions and listening to interviews. I only wear thick leggings (mine are from jcrew) with tunics/long shirts.
Also, I feel like with the plethora of skinny pants, i.e. the Pixie and Minnie pant from jcrew (and similar variations at other places), you should probably be wearing those pants for the legging look with a more pant-esque fabric.

I hope the link worked. I suck at this stuff.
Seems to be a popular trend. I get it if you are working out but for everyday work wear, no thanks.
