Hi, just looking for thoughts and maybe a little reassurance. I'm 35 weeks today, and at my check up yesterday my midwife mentioned I haven't gained any weight in the past two weeks(which seems impossible, since I'm eating everything that isn't nailed down), and that I'm measuring around 31 weeks. She didn't seem terrible concerned as I am generally built pretty small and am long waisted, and at the last U/S(when I was still measuring small), the baby was measuring right on track. She also mentioned it could be positioning of the baby, and recommended I just take it easy and not worry, but of course I'm a little stressed out. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks!
Re: Measuring Small
(They also told me he'd be about 6 pounds at birth, based on the ultrasound. He came out 7 lbs 15 oz - about 2 pounds heavier than predicted.)
I agree with the other ladies. If you are concerned, ask for another growth u/s just to be sure. I've been measuring 2 weeks behind my entire pregnancy. I had a growth scan at almost 34 weeks and baby was measuring a bit ahead. Body type and baby position has a lot to do with it. The tech told me that my baby was really low already so that could have had something to do with it as well.
You are a little behind (they don't worry about +/- two weeks in fundal height), but since the baby was measuring right on track at ultrasound, it sounds like they are not worried. Are you scheduled for another scan anytime soon (FGR is diagnosed at 10th percentile - so if the baby was normal a few weeks ago that's probably your provider isn't too concerned).
With DS, I only gained 18 pounds my whole pregnancy and I measured 2 to 3 weeks behind the whole time. Ultrasounds showed him as being very large, there were no concerns. He was just dispersed evenly from what I was told. He was a healthy 9lbs 21.5 inches at birth.
This pregnancy - same deal. I've gained about 18 pounds so far at 33 weeks, but I'm measuring 31 weeks. This little guy is measuring in the 70th percentile though. It's hard not to worry when people keep telling you that you don't look close to whatever weeks you are in pregnancy and you measure small, aren't gaining weight even though you are eating a ton - consider it a blessing though if the baby is measuring fine. Some women just carry differently. I keep joking and saying my uterus must be like a clown car because I've had one big baby, it looks like I'm having another, and measure behind, never get a huge bump or gain a ton of weight. They hide somewhere in there!
