1st Trimester

what to do.

Just went to the bathroom and saw bright red blood. I am only 4 weeks along. It is hard to judge how much... I called the doctor and I had to leave a voicemail with the nurse. Its been about an hour with no return call. I am having some mild cramping but nothing more than I have had the past week+. Recommendations? I don't know if I should count myself out, take another pregnancy test now, or what? Open to any recommendations.

Re: what to do.

  • I am just nervous that it is a miscarriage or CP. I just hate not knowing. Nurse called back and ordered betas for tomorrow and Monday. Guess I'll just have to wait it out.

  • Thank you everyone. After the initial red, it is much lighter in color (pink) and hardly even a "flow" (only present after wiping). I am having my hcg checked this morning and on Monday. I am trying to not count myself out yet!
  • Unfortunately, red blood isn't a good sign - but sometimes people have breakthrough bleeding where their period should be, and I hope that's the case for you.

Make sure you monitor it carefully and keep in close contact with your OB.
Second pregnancy, God willing - first baby.

  • Thanks. Yesterday.. The day when I was bleeding .. Would have been when AF arrived. Thank goodness it has stopped for now.
  • Around 6 weeks I had some bright red bleeding and mild cramping as well. It all went away pretty quickly and turned out to be a subchorionic hemmorage. I was told to take it easy from there to allow it to go away but I am still trucking along and 10 weeks now! Good luck to you!

  • It's scary, but put a pad on. You can't do anything, really.

Drink lots of water & do your best to take it easy.
