pacifier questions

I have a dumb question...DS2 uses a green soothie pacifier, and the box says they are for 0-3 months. Do I need switch him into the blue soothie that is made for 6+ months, or does it not matter at all?

Move up.  The pacifiers are made specifically to fit their mouth at that age.
What if LO is smaller than a typical 6-month old?  Like significantly smaller?

  • My DS,who is 3, still uses a binky at night (please don't judge me :/) he still uses the nuk brand that are 6-18 months cause he hated the bigger ones. Dr said obviously we need to get rid of the binky but it shouldn't affect him too much. Actually his teeth people are always commenting on how nice they are lol.

M still uses his (binky) at night and naps. I get up and put it back in if he cries for it...no judgement here! It soothes him, and I don't rock him to sleep or anything. He also sleeps with a bamboo Aden & Anais blanket.

On pacifier size- we moved up a size at 6 months and he would take his smaller size until recently, he's 7 1/2 mos now.

  • LO still uses 0-3. He doesn't like the 3-6 month ones. I don't think my sister ever moved her twins up and they turned out just fine ;) You can try it, but if he's happy, keep with what you have.

Question: What about wubbanubs, they are just one size, right? I think ours was 0-6mos.
The boy I nannyed for used a wubbnubb until 18 months.
My LO uses his Wub so little that I'm comfortable with giving it to him. I bought the 6+ Nuk, which LO likes, except they don't have a handle and that bugs him

  • I think you should definitely try to move up. I'm under the impression that the main difference is the toughness of the material. The 3+ ones are meant for babies who can chew harder and who are getting teeth. I think there's a risk of them biting off part of the 0-3 month ones.

We moved LO up at 3 months and she was fine with them for about a month and then stopped taking a paci (old or new) altogether.
  • With ds we only use the 0-3 because he wouldn't take the 6+. He ended up not taking it at all after 9 months. A blessing and a curse.
