switching peditricians

I'm highly considering switching LO doctor.... I just feel like he is just to laid back. LO is 1 month today. He told me upon first visit that she has larnogmalcia (spelling) he said this by her nosiey breathing. He gave me no info on it. I googled it and found that most doctor refer to a ENT for the child to get checked out. Although it seems not serious unless severe I felt a little under informed.

Monday I took LO in because she has a blocked tear duct we had been treating. It was good for 1.5 weeks but then came back as an infection. More eye cream for her. He said her breathing was wheezy and asked if she had a cough. ..and she coughedfor him (iI thought it was throat clearing) ...I asked what so we do about that and he was like ehhhh she's fine.

Isn't a newborn suppose to be evaluated for cough and wheezing more thoroughly? I've noticed she is very raspy after she eats which is most likely do to the above but I don't feel that her breathing is all just normal. Sometimes she stays raspy for hours. She is stuffy nose sounding but no boogers. I think I'll call a new doc today and get her seen to see what they think.

WWYD? Anyone switches docs yet based on being uncomfortable?

    I agree with pp- if you have any reason to think you need to switch just do so. You want to be where you feel comfortable.

    My LO also has clogged ducts. DS1 did too and they didn't go away until he was almost 9 mos old :(

    Both my kids had the weezy thing (DS still has it). My pedi said they would grow out of it bc it's caused by cardilidge that need to harden. DD's went away with no problems. My pedi wasn't concerned. Both my kids have clogged tear ducts too and the pedi said they wouldn't worry until 1 year. DD's took care of itself and we are still dealing with DS's.

    LO also has clogged tear ducts and raspy breathing... Pedi isn't concerned..

    Lurking from July14 - just wanted I comment that my DD does have laryngomalcia (noisy breathing) they realized this in the hospital, pedi agreed and we went ahead to a ENT who scoped her and said it was a mild case. I would recommend getting it checked out by an ENT just to make sure as the neonatologist told us you def want to get it checked to rule out anything else. We didn't need a referral just looked up who was covered under our insurance. Fortunately it doesn't bother the babies as much as it is tough for people to hear the noises they make because it usually sounds like they are having trouble breathing and they squeak A LOT!     My baby has laryngomalacia and is in the NICU because he can't breathe and feed very well.  Everyone was monitoring him for coughing because coughing can be a sign of aspirating which can cause lung damage.  He had a swallow study and is not aspirating, but this can occur with laryngomalacia.  According to our ENT, it isn't really very clear when a case is mild vs severe.  You should try to see an ENT and mention the cough.
