Subchorionic Hemorrhage (Hematoma)

Just had my US at 7 weeks today and my doctor discovered that my spotting/bleeding I've had (mostly brown but some reddish and heavier for the last two days) is happening because I have a Subchorionic Hemorrhage (Hematoma). More info is below if anyone has had a similar diagnosis or is spotting a lot. Upon learning more from my doc, mine is considered "moderate" and what I've read states that "a hematoma that is small or moderate in size often subsides within one to two weeks." Still it's scared the crap out of me today but I am determined to be optimistic and stay positive (worrying won't help). I have another US in 2 weeks and am hopeful that this clot will subside by then. She said I should not do strenuous activity and that I should get lots of rest. Anyone else have this diagnosis or any experience with it? Sounds like it's pretty rare (lucky me to have no MS, unlucky me to have SCH). Positive news- there is a strong heartbeat and my baby is the right size for how far along I am. I am counting my blessings there!

    I don't have any experience with your situation, but I hope that it subsides soon and that you can relax. FX for you!

    I also had one my first pregnancy at 7 weeks. I was driving and still 30 min from home when I realized I was bleeding. It was a Friday night. In ignorant shock I continued to drive. By time I got home I was soaked and ruined my truck seat. I was convinced I had lost him. Within 24 hours the bleeding had tapered off and I went in for an u/s the earliest they could get me in which was Tuesday. I never had another issue. It is so very scary. I am sorry you went through that. Hopefully you will have no further issues.

    Thanks for the encouragement and shared stories ladies! I found some recent research which backs up the idea that SCH outcomes don't typically end in MC (I'm a little bit of a science nerd so knowing the statistics makes me feel better):

    I think it is actually fairly common. They probably go undiagnosed quite a bit though (if no ultrasound is performed) when spotting occurs.

    I had one with my second pregnancy. It scared the crap out of me and had reoccuring spotting up until 13 weeks. I was put on pelvic rest (no sex or breastfeeding). I hope your resolves soon so you can start to relax a bit more and enjoy your pregnancy.

    My two boys are getting a surprise May 2015!

    I had one with my twin pregnancy. My doctor put the same restrictions on me and it resolved by week 14 and the restrictions were lifted.
