Babies sex by heartbeat?!

Saw midwife today and when she listened to the heart she said 'sounds like a boy'.. She said boys heartbeats are usually stronger. I'm almost 37 weeks. Bearing in mind ultrasound at 17weeks said girl!
Lucky thing I chose a unisex name. Lol. Hmmmm

    I hope she was at least half joking.. .. I've never heard of the weak/strong hb indicating sex.

    I think the old wives tale is that a higher heartrate (in the 170's) means boy and a lower (in the 150's or 160's) means female. I think its a bunch of B.S. though. I'm surprised your Dr. said that to you, OP.

    At our ultrasound last week, baby boy's HB was in the 130s.

    Well.....according to the heart rate theory I am having a girl, but according to the 14 ultrasounds I've had it's a boy.

    My doctor told me at one of my earlier appointments that 75% of the time a faster heartbeat indicates a girl.  I thought for sure I was having a girl because the heartbeat was so fast at that particular time, but the heartbeat has really been through quite a range of numbers in appointments since then.  My coworker says the opposite and that a fast heartbeat indicates a boy.  Only time will tell what you are having.
