Scheduled my RCS. 38w appointment yesterday

I went yesterday for a growth u/s and my 38w appointment, which included an internal cervical check.
The u/s estimated DS at 8 pounds 15 oz as of yesterday. Whoa. That's what DD weighed when she was born at 41w+1! Obviously it can be off by a pound either way, but when my OB measured my belly, she said she seriously doubts that he's any smaller than that, because my belly is measuring 40w right now, too. Then she did a cervical check - damn, I forgot how that feels. Ouch! - and my cervix is still locked up tight. Obviously that could change dramatically in a week too, but in case it doesn't, we talked about other options. And I scheduled a RCS for next Friday, 9/26! Shit is getting real. I'll be 39w 4d, and considering how big this boy is, that's close enough for me.
What I didn't know about a VBAC is that with a prior c-sec, you can't have any of the drugs that would normally be used to soften your cervix (cervadil) in order to help an induction, because it increases the risk of rupture. So my only option for an induction would be a foley balloon and pitocin, which all sounds like torture to me, and I was on the fence about it in the first place. So that made the decision for me. Initially, I scheduled it for 10/2 (which would've made me a real O14 mama!), but after talking with DH over breakfast right after my appointment, we agreed that sooner might be better and I called to change it.
